The amber street light flickered, she knew it was going to be a long walk home. The roads were dead. All buildings had locked doors and windows, no lights on. Nothing. Not even the tumbleweed was here tonight. She was all alone. At least that's what she thought.

***

Peering out of his hell hole, he looked at her, a devilish grin growing on his face. Anyone would've thought he was some sort of stalker with the way he stared at her, eyes burning into the back of her head as she sighed. "Another day of walking back by myself" she muttered. "Not even close to being alone", he whispered back.

***

She quickly turned around, certain she heard a whisper, "stop it, you're just freaking yourself out." She said to herself. Taking a deep breath in she started the long trek to her house up the hill. She pressed play on her phone, her headphones now drowning out the silence that was present on the street. Shoving her hands in her pockets she began the dreaded walk back to her house.

***

Silly girl, don't make it too easy for me. That move is going to be the death of you, An evil man, sniggered to himself. He pulled himself out of the sewage hatch, smirk never leaving, and sure that she would've caught him if it wasn't for todays technology. He's been missing for years. 30 years to be exact and still as evil as the day he ran from the police after he murdered his family. Full of hate, he got no remorse from it and no remorse for murdering the children he had been, after all they're just kids right?

***

Frankie, aged 16, was a simple girl, she kept her head down and was hardly ever in any trouble. She'd just finished a shift at the book shop she worked in. Most people were unsure as to why it stayed open until 10:30pm, but she didn't mind, it gave her more time to complete her homework and read her favourite books. She was used to the deadly silence of her street at this time of night by now, however, tonight had a special eerie feel to it that just kept her on edge at all times. She was just freaking herself out, at least that's what she told herself, yet she couldn't fight the feeling that someone's eyes were burning into the back of her head, watching her like a hawk.

***

He moved forward, getting ready to make his move on her. Poor Frankie, never going to be able to see her family again, well at least not alive. He let out a snigger, followed by a bellowing laugh, making sure that her headphones would not be able to hear his deep voice. His piercing green eyes full of poison looked around the area. Desolate he thought, and absolutely non traceable.

***

She knew someone was behind her, even her headphones couldn't mask the bellowing laugh of the man behind. It appeared she didn't hear him as she kept on walking at a calm yet quick pace, but her heart rate increased rapidly, and her blue lagoons scanned everywhere, never resting on one spot. She had to think quick, mind everywhere she couldn't focus, but she had to. She had to concentrate if she was to get out alive. The myths were true, at first she thought they were just old wives tales, but now, she believed every word. It was him. The guy that had been missing for 30years, that only comes out when he's found another victim to take the life of. She couldn't die now, she had too much to explain to her parents. So she remained calm and took out her phone writing down all possible plans. Once she picked her final plan, she deleted it then slid her phone back into her coat pocket.
Frankie was absolutely petrified at how real this was all becoming, once it was a childish joke, aimed to scare all the younger kids. Now, life or death.
She turned. He looked shocked. However that shock turned back into the the sinister smirk. She knew the plan, she had it all thought out. But the smirk, the instant terror it gave her was something she could never prepare for.
