JJ's pov:
"Emily!" I yelled, standing in the kitchen. "Could you possibly move ANY slower?"She walked down the stair, with a smile on her face. "What's got you so grumpy this morning? We're not even late." She asked, wrapping her arms around my waist and giving me a quick kiss.
Emily and I have been married for 2 years now. We met on her first day at the bau, but didn't start dating until a little after that. We had actually been dating for only a little over a year, when we got married. A lot of people told me that it was much too quick, but now I've known her for over 5 years, and I don't regret a single choice I made.
"JJ." Emily said, waving her hand in front of my face. I must have zoned out. "Are you okay?"
"What?" I looked up, focusing my attention again. "Yeah I'm fine."
A small smile formed on her face. "What's so funny?" I asked. "I just thought after so long you wouldn't bother lying to me anymore." She laughed. "Because it never ever works." She's not wrong, I'm incapable of lying to her. I'm actually a very good lier in general, which comes in handy with our job. But when it comes to Emily specifically, she knows if I'm lying almost instantly.
"So what's wrong?"
I sighed, drinking the last sip of my coffee. "I don't know. I've got a weird feeling." "Weird how?"
"I don't know." I repeated. "Just nervous I guess." I shrugged. "Jayje I think that might be called having anxiety." She said, grabbing her shoes. It was already 8 and we had to get going soon.
"I don't have anxiety." I rolled my eyes. "It's just a feeling. It'll go away."
Emily's pov:
I grabbed the rest of my stuff and we both headed to the car. JJ stared out the window the whole drive, which was only around 5 minutes. She gets a little pissed whenever I mention the fact that she might have anxiety. Apparently she's too "tough" for it or something. It doesn't really make sense to me, but I choose to leave it alone.I parked the car and we both walked into the elevator. We entered the glass doors of the bau, and when Hotch saw his he looked relieved. "Great everyone's here. Briefing room, we have a case." He announced.
Derek, Spencer, Rossi, JJ, and I all gathered around the table in the briefing room, taking our seats. Hotch stood in the front, along with Penelope.
"So we don't actually have a case." He says. We all look at him confused. "So why are we here?" Derek asked. "We're here because we are going to have a case." Now everyone was just even more confused.
"What?" JJ asked. "How do you know?"
"Hold on, I'll explain." He said, presenting a case on the projector.
"New York PD called me this morning. They have 2 dead kids, and 2 missing ones. Evelyn Jones, 3 years old, was the first girl to go missing, and 2 hours later Jackson Hale, 4 years old, disappeared. That was 2 days ago. They were both found dead yesterday morning, and they had been killed within a few hours of being found."
"So the unsub is keeping them alive for 2 days?" Reid points out.
"Yes. Yesterday Madyson Smith, 4, went missing, and 12 hours later, Morgan Dale, 3 1/2 was also reported missing."
"So why isn't this a case?" Asked Morgan.
"It's not a case yet because PD called us prematurely. There are only 2 victims, so not a serial killer. And there is no solid evidence to prove that the kidnapping as are connected, so legally we can't join yet. Most likely we will have a case by tomorrow." Hotch said, solemnly.
