Emily's pov:
JJ and I had just gotten to the mall. We were meeting Penelope at Pottery Barn, because JJ insisted on getting furniture from there. I'm pretty sure her goal in life was to make our house look like a pottery barn catalog.I parked the car and we started walking. The mall wasn't too crowded today, probably because it was Wednesday morning.
When we got to the store, I saw Penelope standing outside. She quickly waved us over. "Okay so while I was waiting I made a list of a few things I think you might need." She grinned. "What do you mean by a few?" I asked her.
"Oh ya know.. Like 5 or 6." She smiled. "Or 30."
"We're going to be here all night aren't we." I laughed, looking between Penelope and JJ, who was already scrolling through the list.
Our first store out of many was Pottery Barn, and let me tell you they have a lot of stuff. We actually got a lot of the list done right in the store.
I actually liked shopping with JJ, because I found it very amusing. The first thing we needed was a bed obviously. They had a lot, and JJ seemed to like every single one. "This one's the best! Oh wait no it's this one! No no no this one is the cutest!" She squealed. Every 10 steps was a new favourite.
Eventually we all settled on one that was plain white, with a railing. It was pretty simple, and made it impossible to fall out of which seemed like a good thing.
I found a small play table that I really liked, and so did JJ. It was white and matched the bed, but with a 3 year old I'm not sure how long it's going to stay that colour.
It took us almost an hour for just those things, so we decided to spilt up. JJ found a shelf that was good for books and toys, and I found a really cute doll house and dresser.
We bought the bigger furniture things, and they were getting delivered today. After that we stayed in the store because apparently they had more than just furniture.
I found a bed spread that was pink with stars, and JJ absolutely loved it. We got a few bed sheets, one with rainbows and one with stars and planets. JJ has a thing with space.
JJ found a pink lamp shaped like a heart, and Penelope found a fuzzy little chair that looked like a bear.
After that I finally told them that there were other stores to look at, and forced them to leave. We paid for everything and then started walking around the mall.
"Do you realize we just spend 3 HOURS in pottery barn?" I chuckled, glancing down at my watch. "Yessss, but it was worth it because of all the amazing stuff we got!" JJ said, looking up at me with the biggest smile on her face.
I hate to admit it but I was actually really enjoying this. It was already 3 o'clock, so we ate lunch quickly before continuing to shop.
One of the quickest stops at a store we made was getting a car seat. Cara was pretty small, so the car seat she needed was actually designed for kids younger than her. I'm not sure if she's going to like it. We ended up getting an all black one because it's least likely to get stained.
This time around it was buying a lot more smaller things. One store JJ really liked because it had a lot of rainbows. She's a child.
"Look Emily it's a little rainbow nightlight!" She says, running up and showing it to me. "I love it." I smiled, kissing the top of her head. We also ended up getting a rug with 2 pastel rainbows on it.
Penelope found some fuzzy pillows that went on a bed. One was a pink heart and one was a white star. I never really understood decorative pillows, but I didn't want a 10 minute long rant about it so I didn't say anything.
