Avoidance, self deprecating thoughts, worried Inko
____________________________________

When Inko Midoriya came home, she was instantly worried by her son's appearance. Her son looked like he had been through hell and back; his eyes were dull, he was shaking, his hair was wild, and his stutter is acting up more than usual. All she wants to know is why.

"Izuku, honey, are you okay?"

Her son paused for a moment, then responded, "I had an eventful day."

"Alright then," she says as she starts grabbing ingredients for dinner, "Do you want to tell me what happened?"

He pulled up a seat at the table and pulled out his homework. "Not all of it."

"And that is perfectly fine." Inko starts chopping vegetables, "Why don't you tell me the good things that happened this week?"

Izuku seemed glad to ramble about something. Things like the hero fights he saw, stray cats he met, tests he passed; It made her happy to see the smile on his face, even though his eyes were lifeless and she knew he was leaving things out. She didn't mind, he would tell her when he was ready.

She would be waiting with open arms.

----

In the safety of his room, Izuku started researching as soon as he was done with his homework. The heroes who scolded him said something about vigilantism, and he was curious. 'It's not like I am trying to avoid thinking about it.'

Izuku opened his aggressively sticker-covered laptop and typed 'vigilantism def' into the search bar.

Hours later, he was stuck down a rabbit hole of information on quirk laws, underground heros, and hero permits.

He found the Hero Public Saftey Commision's extensive PDF on hero and quirk laws. It was split into sections for easier public consumption. Izuku selected the Vigilantes section. He read everything carefully and made notes in a new notebook. No, he wasn't avoiding All Might's signature and no he wasn't using research to avoid thinking of his apparent quirk.

When he finished with that page he turned to the other sections. After that he took to the rest of the internet. By the time he was done, the new notebook was just a few pages shy of full.

It had been a while since he had gone full mumble mode, and it was refreshing.

There were a couple of laws that he found fascinating.

Public safety Law V #1 - A vigilante is defined as anyone who uses their quirk for active hero work without a license or express permission from a proper person of authority, such as a hero, hero teacher, police, or other position similar. This coincides with Public Quirk usage Law #7.

Public Quirk Safety Law #7 - An individual may use their quirk to perform a citizens arrest if one or more person(s) are succeptable to physical, mental, or emotional harm, if all attempts to contact professionals are lacking or the situation is dire.

Izuku also found that underground heros tended to work with vigilantes a lot, even if they were on opposite legal sides, for their flexibility in regards to availability and information gathering.

This irked Izuku. Arrest for vigilantism was only possible if it wasn't in the defense of oneself or another and a quirk was used, and...

... in legal terms, he didn't have one.

Izuku snapped his laptop closed. He was thinking stupid thoughts again. He needed to sleep.

At this point, he was ready to drop dead in bed and sleep for once, but his brain wouldn't shut up. In the absence of new information, it decided that now was a good time to start processing everything that happened today.

Laying there, Izuku slowly absorbed everything that happened. He had to deal with Bakugo tomorrow, the police might come knocking on his door if All might even mentioned him in his report, and... that's right-..... Izuku dissed All Might... to his face.

Izuku burried his face in his pillow. "Oh my god... I'm officially dead. The one time to loose my cool, and it's on the number 1 hero. Fuck." Shoving his face further into the pillow, he screamed.

Izuku wasn't one to show anger. It reminded him to much of Bakugo's aggression, and it always ended in him having a mini crisis over whether it was warranted.

He had a quirk too. That was whole other Pandora's box he didn't want to open. Today has been a hell pit. He didn't even register when he had started crying until he felt his pillow becomeing increasingly damp.

Izuku didn't sleep.
