Hitoshi was mad.

And scared.

But mostly mad.

At who? May you ask?

He is mad at his best friend, and at All Might, and at Bakugo. He's mad at the blatant negligence, and the fact that Izuku and Bakugou where paired together, and at Izuku's lack of self preservation.

Overall, Hitoshi is stewing in emotions while watching Izuku's match play out. The anger started when he realized that Izuku was paired with Bakugo. That should have been the first red flag for the exercise.

Then, Izuku decided to capture Bakugo instead of meeting up with Uraraka, knowing that he didn't react well to the boy's presence.

Izuku promised to do what was best for his own well being after he left Aldera. He and Hitoshi had come to that compromise. They would do what was best for themselves, and both of their secrets would be kept. Not that Hitoshi would ever out something like Izuku's history to their class, that's just rude and wrong on so many levels.

It felt a bit like betrayal, even though he knew Izuku wasn't thinking straight. He tends to fall on his analysis when in stressful situations, and doesn't take his own emotional needs into account.

He gets even angrier when All Might doesn't end the exercise the moment that Bakugou threatens to use his gauntlet from such a short range, with Izuku in the vents no less. It adds another layer to why he hates the man.

He hates Bakugou for going through with it. He wasn't the only one who had a reaction to the blast, or Izuku's survival. Several of their classmates gasped or got up, but a good amount stayed in place, probably putting way to much trust in their teacher to regulate what was going on.

He watches as Izuku suffers prolonged mental strain for several minutes, and isn't surprised when he collapsed. He was expecting it. But, that didn't mean that fear didn't shoot through him at the sight.

----

He was sitting in Recovery Girl's office next to Izuku's cot. It was the end of their heroics classes for the day, and Hitoshi was forced to attend them before he could go see Izuku.

As for Izuku, he woke up about twenty minutes before Hitoshi got there.

At the current moment, Hitoshi was hitting him with the most ferocious glare he possibly could.

"It's a case of quirk exhaustion. He needs good sleep, and a good meal. Can you promise me that he gets that?" Recovery Girl tells him.

"Yes." Hitoshi says, never taking his eyes off of Izuku.

"Alright then." Recovery Girl says, before leaving the two boys alone.

The silence stretches a mile between them. Eventually, Hitoshi drops his glare. "I'm proud of you, scared for you, and angry." He curls in the cheap plastic chair he's sitting in, pushing his hands up his face and into his hair. "We promised eachother to put our best interests first, and you went and did the opposite!"

"What?" Izuku exclaimed, sitting up in the cot and wincing. "What are you talking about?!"

Hitoshi looked him dead in the eye. "Really?! What am I talking about?! You chose to fight Bakugo--chose!--, for fucks sake, even though you didn't have to, and almost died!"

"It was the most logical thing to do in the moment! If I hadn't taken out Bakugo he could have joined Iida in fighting us, and a 2v1 is preferable to a 2v2!"

"I know that! That's not why I'm saying it was a bad decision though!"

"Why was it a bad idea then, Hitoshi, because I'm not seeing it?!"
