As I sailed on the calm waters of the East, I looked up to the sky and sighed. What to do now?
"It's been a few months since Roger turned seventeen and went with Rayleigh, and now I've gotten nothing to do." I sat up and immediately noticed an island in the distance. "If I remember correctly, that should be Dawn Island." I changed the course of the ship to head straight for the island.
As I docked, I could already feel the tense stares of the residences of the village. I merely shrugged it off and walked into the village, to restock. But then, a child came up to me and asked,
"Pirate or Marine?" I released a breath I unconsciously held and responded,
"Occupation is just a simple traveler." The child nodded and I could feel the atmosphere lighten. "Is the forest open to hunt in?"
"Yes, but I wouldn't suggest it due to the bandits that reside there." I grinned and pat the head of the small kid.
"Thanks for the warning." Then I began my walk to the forest, all the while ignoring the presence that seemed to watch my every step.
Eventually, when I made it some distance into the forest I sighed as a young man with a hook like scar on his left eye charged at me, readying his fist to slam into my face.
"History tends to repeat itself when it comes down to these carrier of the Will." I muttered as I covered my own fist in Haki and slammed it down on the top of his head, effectively creating a crater in the forest earth below.
When the dust cleared from the impact, the young man proclaimed,
"I knew you were pirate scum!" What? "Only people like you would attack a civilian without a reason!"
"But you were going to attack me first... I merely defended myself." He flushed and pointed at me.
"That doesn't matter!"
"But it does. What if a marine saw our interaction? How would they view the situation we have?"
"They would-"
"-think that I was the victim, and you were a criminal." I finished. "Also, why are you obsessed with catching a pirate?"
"So I can become a marine to protect my family." I didn't react, but instead observed the young adult. Once again noting that he was like them.
"You wouldn't happen to have the initial D in your name... would you?"
"H-how?" Called it.
"Just happened to know lots of people that shared personality traits and the will of D." I gave a small smile at the memory of them. "So what's your name, brat?"
"BRAT?! My name isn't brat!"
"Well you're certainly acting like one."
"Monkey D. Garp." He grunted.
"And my name is Ayumi... So now that we have established a mutual relationship of friendship, I'll help you out on your goal." Garp's ears perked. "I've got connections to the Marines, so getting you in shouldn't be too hard."
"Really?! That's-"
"However... you should understand what it means to serve the so-called Justice the government says it enforces." I stared right at him. "Do you have anything else today? Because if so, be prepared to miss it as this is a story that will take some time to tell."
