Tenko and Touya began to visit frequently. More like Jiro couldn't get rid of them, not that he'd want to. Every day without fail the two would appear outside minutes before opening and would stay until Jiro had to close up. Multiple times L/n offered to let them stay the night in the cafe, but each time Touya refused.
Even after two weeks, they refused to tell Jiro their names. Leaving him to simply just referring to them as white and blue due to their hair color. It took a solid five days to get Touya to cave about receiving treatment. Just when they believed Jiro's smile couldn't get any bigger, they were proved wrong. The moment Touya said it was okay for him to apply burn ointment, Jiro's entire face lit up like a Christmas tree.
Yet something felt different today. Touya held a tired Tenko on his back. The two were running a few minutes late due to oversleeping. The warmth of their new blankets was too much for them to part with. Panting quietly, Touya stood in front of the dimly lit building. An uneasy feeling creeped across his skin. Coming to a halt, he stares hazardously at the dark door in front of him.
They were late yet the cafe wasn't even open yet, and Jiro didn't come outside to greet them. Something that's never happened before. Day or night, rain or shine, Jiro's shop was always open.
A red alarm went off in Touya's head. His instincts told him to run, yet his feet refused to move. His heart rate slowly began to grow faster. Looking around frantically, he sees a tiny detail he missed. The glass, it was shattered.
Shards of the clear material scattered around the inside of the building. Signaling that it was broken from the outside.
Touya's hands began to shake as he gently placed Tenko on the ground next to him. He was silently thankful the male was such a heavy sleeper.
After making sure Tenko wouldn't wake up, Touya walked towards the door quietly. His feet carefully inched closer. Reaching his arm through the hole in the glass, he searched for the doorknob on the other side. Ever so carefully, he turned the knob. The door let out a silent creak as it opened inward.
The young boy glanced back at the sleeping child before creeping into the silent building. Even though all of the lights were off, it was easy to see. The wall lined with windows welcomed in just enough natural light for Touya to be able to make his way throughout the seating area.
As far as he could tell, nothing was out of place. The cash register, the tables, the fridge, everything was perfectly okay. In fact, nothing was even touched. The only sign of a disturbance was the broken glass from the door. Yet, something still didn't feel right.
Touya vaguely remembered Jiro mentioning he lived upstairs. The blood only seemed to pump faster as he looked at the door leading to the staircase. Neither him nor Tenko dared to even look in this direction before. The thought alone seemed suffocating to them. Being trapped in one air without a direct way out. It was something out of a nightmare for them.
