(Y/n) spent the night again. But when they got home both of them weren't tired, so they ended up staying up and doing nothing in particular. It was silent. A comfortable silence between the two. The only sound being Hiccups pencil that he was rolling on the table.
(Y/n)'s ears perked up at the sound of footsteps which alerted Hiccup. They looked over and saw his dad which they didn't know was back yet.
"D-Dad! Your back!" Hiccup says trying to cover his dragon darings for Toothless and Blue. "
"Uh, Gobbers not here so..." (Y/n) says.
"I know" The chief says and pushes his way t through the door.
"Maybe I should go..." (Y/n) stands up but Stoick stopes her.
"No, I actually would like to talk to both of you" He says. Hiccup and her share a worried glance.
"You do?" Hiccup asks nervously.
"You've been keeping secrets" He says. Their breaths hitch.
"W-we have?" (Y/n) asks trying to be cool. Failing terribly.
"Just how long did you think you could hide it?" Stoick asks with a squint.
"I...we....w-we don't know what you're..."
"Nothing happens on this island without me hearing about it" He cuts Hiccup off.
"Oh?" (Y/n) gulps.
"So...let's talk" Stoick takes a step towards the kids. "About those dragons" ohhhh yeah, they were in screwed.
"Oh, gods. Dad, we're so sorry. We....we were going to tell you" Hiccup stammers stressed and running his hand through his hair.
"We just didn't know how to uh...." (Y/n) was interrupted when Stoick started chuckling. "Uh..." she says looking at Hiccup who furrowed his eyebrows confused. They both start nervously laughing still confused.
"You-you're...you're not upset?" Hiccup asks.
"What?! I was hoping for this!" Stoick smiles. Okay now they were really confused.
"Uh...you were?" (Y/n) asks.
"And believe me, it only gets better! Just wait till you spill a Nadders guys the first time! And mount your first Gronckle head on a spear. What a feeling!" Stoick punches Hiccup in the shoulder causing him to back into (Y/n) with a gasp. "You really had me going there you two. All those years of the worst viking Berk has seen and the daughter of two of Berks greatest warriors, who didn't take her place in the family name. Odin, it was rough. I almost gave up on you. And all the while you were holding out on me. Oh, Thor almighty!" Stoick cheers with excitement. The teens look at each other again.
"You you guys going so well in the ring...we finally have something to talk about" He says taking a seat. (Y/n) felt out of place. This wasn't her dad. She didn't know what to says. And looking over a Hiccup, he didn't either. Stoick scooted closer, encouraging the teens to talk but they stood there awkwardly. (Y/n) wished Gobber was here. He always knew how to break the tension in the room with a joke.
"Oh. Here, I, uh, brought you something. To keep you safe in the ring" Stoick holds two helmets in his hand. One, (Y/n) thought looked familiar.
"Wow. Thanks" The two say.
"It was your mothers'. They both would have wanted you to have it. It's half of their breatplates" Stoick days. Hiccup and (Y/n) remove their hand and laugh nervously.
"Matching set it keeps her close, you know" He taps his helmet. "Wear then proudly. You deserve it. You've held up your guys' end of the deal"
"Yeah..." Hiccup says placing the helm set on his desk. Then suddenly he lets out a dramatic yawn and stretches. "We should really get to bed"
