By the third hour, all that could be seen of the Forest, were some burning trunks and ashes of all the beauty that once was there.
"None of them could have survived the fire," savagely thought Leroy as he finally drifted to sleep.
As the red light appeared on the horizon, one of the soldiers knocked on Leroy's door. The knock sounded very hesitating.
"What is it?!" growled the king, mad because they woke him up so early. They must have a really good reason for waking me up, or else I'll thrown them into a jail, though Leroy.
"My king..." reported the soldier. "The Forest..."
"Will you tell me already what's going on or will you stand there as some cowardly animal?! What's wrong with 'the Forest'? It's been burned down last night."
"Erm.. about that.. i-it has grown back, my king. It has somehow grown overnight."
Leroy couldn't believe his ears. He laughed and stepped to the window, thinking the man was crazy. But what he saw took his breath. The Forest was right there, as always, a deep green, gloomy mist rising high over the trees. A red sunrise made the view even scarier.
"B- but.. wh- how-...?" Leroy had no words to utter. "Impossible," he breathed at last. "This is impossible. Sorcery! Sorcery is at work in that wood!" He stood staring at the Forest for a long while.
Meanwhile, a cry sounded from a room in the castle. A mother was sitting next to a baby, her face tired and dull. The baby kept crying. A shape appeared at the window. The baby sensed it and turned towards it. All of sudden, she stopped crying, letting out a giggle. Khalida was at the window. Smiling, she winked at her little sister.
