5. attention

"This is literally the most stupidest thing on earth," Akshara spoke with her mouth-full, "literally, worse than hell. This is hell!"

If Aarohi was granted three wishes, her first wish would be to make Akshara disappear and she would then give back her two wishes as gratitude for granting her first wish. She frowned, trying to drown the attention they got because her elder sister was being too dramatic and extra. She was so irritating at times with her attitude, that all Aarohi wanted was for Akshara to leave her and go somewhere else. Just go away from her and let her be at peace.

"You are my hell," Aarohi muttered under her breath but Akshara was too busy in cribbing on how boring the library was and how stupid it was to keep studying when you could do so many interesting things. "Akshara hold your tone," Aarohi whispered to her sister, "the librarian will oust us if you do not shut up."

Akshara rolled her eyes, nevertheless agreeing and munching on the kachoris their father had packed for them. "How long Aaru?"

Holding back onto a new curse she had learnt, Aarohi eyed her sister, "it has only been ten minutes, and out of that you spent the first seven minutes eating the kachoris, and three minutes in boring me to death with your complaints." Akshara frowned at how her younger sister was scolding her, "you promised you would see to it that you sit down and let me study in peace, but you did not even last ten minutes, Akshara."

"Quiet you two!"

Aarohi jumped in her seat at the loud voice which came from the librarian, who eyed them from far away, making Akshara to chuckle at her sister. "Just leave some kachoris for me," Aarohi whispered to her sister, "and shush for some time. I have to get this concept right."

"You should eat then,"

"I cannot, I am not like you. There is time for lunch."

"Well, my stomach is empty," Akshara rubbed her belly with her free hand, eating with the right and in turn pulling Aarohi's hand, "I had a good potty."

"Please do not remind me of that," Aarohi scrunched her face in disgust, "my entire appetite is lost."

Akshara laughed, eating her food while Aarohi sat back, reading the textbook and writing down some of the tough spellings.

"Aaru," Akshara nudged her sister again after two so minutes, "woh dekh, is he not in your class?" She pointed at the little boy and with him were few of Aarohi's classmates, they were in the green room, across the library, looked like they were having fun, singing and dancing. "I have seen them all from school, are they not your friends?"

Aarohi looked at the distant crowd, and she shook her head, "no they are not."

"Do not lie," Akshara leaned sideways, zeroing her eyes on the clan, "For sure seen them in your class during the Open House, that girl was the one who pushed us mistakenly, when we walked in. Isn't she?"

Aarohi gulped, saddening at the thought and pursued her lips. "That was not a mistake," She softly said, scribbling on the top of the textbook. "They do not like me, and I do not like them either." She sighed, while Akshara took another bite of the delicious kachoris.

"Why? I thought they were your friends." Akshara shrugged, "my entire class is my friend, even the others from the standard, some seniors too." Aarohi looked at her smiling sister, she was a social butterfly, and admired for all her extra-curricular activities, especially for her music.

"I am not you Akshara," Aarohi replied, sadly, "I have no friends okay, and I prefer it that way." Shaking her head, Aarohi focused back on the books.

Akshara now sat back, not feeling too good about the idea that her sister had no friends when she was the one who almost the entire school knew about. "That is not true, you are Akshara Goenka's sister, you gotta have friends."

Aarohi's scoff took her back in surprise, "Akshu that is the reason I have no friends," Akshara stared blankly at her sister, "you teased me once in front of the class, called me a nerd and a weirdo and you may have said that casually, the entire class keeps calling me that since then, thanks to you."

Those words were stirring up Akshara to be angry and upset at the same time, "so you are blaming me for your sad life?" Akshara chose to be angry than understanding, "you should just stop being a nerd and a weirdo then, Aaru. And for what do you study so much?" Aarohi was surprised at how Akshara was blaming her instead of apologising, "Just stop being this studious all the time, get a hobby and maybe then you could get some friends who share the same interests as you."

"Seriously?" Aarohi's eyes were moist, "so maybe I should just be like you, get a guitar, sing a few songs and beg mom and dad to tag along in every talent show right?"

"You are so jealous, Aarohi. And stop acting like mom and dad do not love you enough."

"They do," Aarohi replied, pointing her finger at Akshara, "but you are so insecure that you barge in every single time and steal the little attention I get too. And that is why I WANT TO STUDY AND COME FIRST IN EVERYTHING I DO." Aarohi was panting, loud and that silenced Akshara, "I cannot be good in anything as you are, but I for sure am good in studies and I will keep studying and getting the first rank if it means I get a little attention from mom and dad which you hog ALL THE TIME!"

"That is enough, you two have to leave now." The librarian was now standing just a feet apart and the sisters realised how they had gotten everyone's attention, and disturbed the people who were studying.

"Congratulations," Aarohi scoffed, "you managed to get their attention too. That is what you always want right, Akshu? Attention..."
