6. sorry

"Aaru, meri baat sunn."

Aarohi wiped her angry tears, and packed her bags as they both headed out of the library after being thrown out. "Aarohi, yaar, sorry," Akshara pleaded but Aarohi wasn't quite in the mood to hear her out however, Akshara stopped moving and at once Aarohi was pulled back because of the handcuffs.

"Damn these!"

"Language," Akshara spoke, with an aura of an elder sister and Aarohi glared at her. "Aur I'm sorry, I didn't keep my side of the deal."

Aarohi furrowed her eyebrows, did she actually hear her sister apologise to her? She looked at Akshara, dumbfounded, "what?"

"Haan haan, sorry." Akshara rolled her eyes, and Aarohi's frown quickly shaped into a smile, rather a grin. "don't grin like that, else, I'll take it back."

"What? You cannot take a sorry back."

"Of course you can!"

Aarohi shrugged, wiping her teary eyes, "anyway, now that you've banned my entry in the library, we should head home so you can go practice." Aarohi replied softly.

It was Akshara's turn to be surprised, "what?" She frowned, why wasn't Aarohi fighting back? She should be the one crying or taunting or creating a scene. "just like that?" She asked Aarohi and the latter shrugged.

"Unlike you, I don't like drama." Aarohi was clear in her words, "and waise bhi, I'll make up for today's time by studying tomorrow. Let's go home."

If this was any other time, Akshara would have gladly accepted the offer because it was in her favour, however she didn't like how sad Aarohi looked and although she hid it well, Akshara noticed how her gaze was lowered most of the time. And the fact that her sister had no real friends, surprised and scared her.

She remembered how Aarohi always wanted to be around her, but having a little sister was like having a little tail and she didn't want to be teased by her mates and hence she forced Aarohi to fend by herself.

Didn't think that Aarohi would be alone.

"Hey Akshara, fancy seeing you here?"

Aarohi and Akshara looked at the boy, the former recognised him from Akshara's bestie gang. Akshara happened to have a crush on this guy, Aarohi rolled her eyes, he wasn't even that great for her sister but whatever. Akshara hid their tied hands behind her back quickly as she smiled.

"Hi," Akshara was timid all of a sudden, she gulped nervously and like an idiot, fumbled on words. "Haan... Woh... Ye..." Akshara tsked, embarassed but Aarohi saved the day.

"She tagged alongwith me," Aarohi added, "I wanted to study here and she agreed to watch over me."

"Oh like a babysitter?" The boy, Aryan, chuckled and Akshara forced a smile. "Nice Akshu, but I thought you hardly associated with nerds like your sister." Aryan laughed on his own joke, and Aarohi pressed her lips in a thin line, eyeing Akshara only for her sister to glare at the boy.

"Excuse me," Akshara replied, taking the duo by surprise, "did you just call my sister a nerd in an insulting way in front of me?" Her stern voice was scary, Aarohi now knew why she was called the tigress of the house because even Aryan widened his eyes and nervously laughed.

"I mean... Mujhe laga..." Aryan was now fumbling, "I thought you called her that too."

Akshara gritted her teeth, pointing her finger at the boy she had a crush on, keyword had. "Yes, I call her that and only I call her whatever I want. She is Aarohi to you, you get that?" Aryan nodded and escaped rather quickly from the glares of the girl while Aarohi frowned.

"Tu theek hai na Akshu?" Aarohi asked, confused because even Akshara was confused at what she just did.

"Mujhe kya hoga," Akshara shook her head, although she really wanted to introspect how easily she scared her crush away. "Anyway, hum woh station wale library main chalte hai. There won't be anyone from our school there plus you can study peacefully because I'll take a nap."

Aarohi did not know what changed Akshara, but she dare not speak against her while Akshara was contemplating what was wrong. Why did she feel so angry and anxious as she fended for her sister? Everyone has been calling Aarohi a nerd and a weirdo, but that never bothered her as much as it did now.

Maybe it was because of spending so much time with her sister and because of the stupid handcuffs.

Argh.

So the girls hopped onto a cab, and reached the library which was farther from their house but Akshara offered to pay up from her allowance because she started the mess and Aarohi only looked at her sister, like she had two heads all of a sudden because this wasn't the annoying elder sister she had.

They dropped off at the gate and headed towards the entrance only for them to dash into two boys. More so Akshara dashed into a tall slim boy and Aarohi held her sister since they were tied, but the tall boy and his books all scattered around. With him was another boy, younger than him and he tsked aloud at the papers that fell.

"I'm so sorry!" Akshara replied and immediately got down, helping the tall boy to collect his books and scattered pages, while Aarohi eyed the younger boy who was eyeing their handcuffs. "So sorry!" Akshara collected the brown books, and she saw name on the label.

Abhimanyu Birla

Such an ancient name, she thought and handed the books to the tall boy who smiled at her.

"It's all cool, you are okay right?"

"Yes," Akshara replied, "Yes, thank you."

"Bhai, unke haatho pe hathkadi lagi hai!" Said the younger one, pointing at Aarohi's tied hands with Akshara, "dekho toh!'

"Oh, it's just a game we're playing." Akshara replied immediately.

"Neil," The boy named Abhimanyu shook his head at the little brother of his, "pointing is bad manners. Aise nahi karte." They smiled at Akshara, Abhimanyu did and moved on, as Neil turned to look down at the handcuffs again and back at Aarohi who glared at him.

"Seriously Akshu?" Aarohi asked as they made way in the library, "you apologised to that stranger? Mujhse toh kabhi itni sweetly baat nahi ki tumne, aur usse kyu?"

Akshara rolled her eyes, "mera hone wala pati hai woh, issliye." To that Aarohi frowned, and Akshara frowned back. "chal, padh le, phir mujhe practice bhi karni hai."

And with that the girls stepped into the study hall, this time Akshara promised to behave and by behaving she meant to take a nap.
