The sound of forks clinking against plates was a dreadful sound. Micheal, Shroud, and Tubbo sat on one side of the table, chatting away about the school, sports, and other useless activities while I stared at Ranboo. He was a funny-looking thing, his long legs and arms caused him to look unproportioned. He also was extremely skinny, like really skinny. He often stood hunched over, resting the tips of his knuckles on the floor. An ender species for sure. Though he tried to hide it, staring at him was making him extremely uncomfortable. That was the goal I suppose.
"Hey," I whispered.
He looked up at me and met my eye. I flashed a grin at him and winked. I let out a small laugh as he let out a frustrated growl. He couldn't say anything with Tubbo sitting right here unless he wanted to embarrass himself.
"Tommy?" Tubbo asked.
I looked away from Ranboo and up at him. He was looking at me with a curious eye and I could see the concern on his lips.
"Do you like the food?" he said smiling. He had prepared us a meat and vegetable platter using some of the groceries Puffy had got me.
"It's delicious Tubbo," I said shifting my collar. The choker had been a gift from Shroud when he was younger, we had matching ones. Mine was a tight yellow piece of cloth wrapped around my neck with a heavy star charm fitted to the middle. His was a piece of Red cloth with an identical star charm. I haven't taken it off since he gave it to me. I glanced at Shroud, he had picked up the conversation from where I left it. His twitching wings spoke for him. The small devil-like things were darker than the night sky. He often keeps them folded neatly at his sides but now they lay open, leaning towards his feet. He was upset, about what, I would not know.
Stop turning my thoughts into poetry.
But it's fun!
"How about you Ranboo?" asked Shroud loudly. Ranboo jumped as I looked up.
"What?" he asked nervously. His eyes darted from Shroud to the door, the particles surrounding him becoming frantic.
"Do you like the food?" Shroud repeated. He eyed Ranboo suspiciously as Ranboo let out slow breaths.
"Yes, the food was great Tubbo!" He said, a little too enthusiastically. "I'm so glad to be able to enjoy such a nice meal with my FAMILY!"
The emphasis on the word family was not needed but it conveyed its point. Shroud's chair scraped the ground loudly as he stood.
"I'm going to bed, I'll see you guys tomorrow," he said as he glared at Ranboo. "Have a good night EVERYONE."
You'd have to be dumb not to get the underlying cues in their words, but I guess Tubbo wasn't always the brightest tool in the shed. A short glance at Ranboo showed that he saw this as a win. We couldn't have that.
"Have a good night!" Said Tubbo cheerfully.
As Shroud walked away he leaned close to Michael and whispered into his ear. It was incredibly faint but my enhanced hearing was able to pick it up.
"Midnight, my room..."
If Tubbo or Ranboo heard the exchange they made no sign of it. He put his plate in the sink and walked to his room, one of the two rooms on the right side of the house. Tubbo would be sleeping in my room, which was next to Shroud's room. Micheal, who was afraid of my apartment, would be sleeping in the guest room with Ranboo. (Ranboo sleeps like a bat and Micheal will sleep in the bed, don't make it weird)
"Good night..." Whispered Micheal as he rose from his seat. He put his plate in the sink and walked slowly to the guest room. I waited till I heard the click of the door before turning my attention back to Tubbo.
