"Get up, Jahseh."

I sighed at the sound of Ichiyo's voice. I knew what was going to come out of her mouth next, which was why I didn't respond.

"You forgot we had to go to Mom's today?" she asked.

"No," I replied. "I'm just really not in the mood."

"Someone has to take us," she said, and I could hear the impatience growing in her voice. "We're already ready to go, so get up."

I opened my eyes and rolled over, sitting up and looking at her. She leaned against the doorframe with her arms crossed, and, as I expected, an impatient look on her face.

"As if you wanna even go over there," I finally responded.

"It's not like we have a choice. It's either we go there or the feds get involved."

"I know." I took a deep breath and checked the time on my phone. It was just thirty minutes before the kids had to get to school, so if they were going to get there on time I had to put some pepper on it.

"Give me like five minutes, I'll be ready. Make sure Xiorra has her stuff packed."

"Alright." She left after that. I was left with a dazed mind as I adjusted to waking up.

When I finally got myself together, I got up and took care of myself hygienically, pulling on a hoodie and my shoes. I grabbed my phone and left my room, checking in the kids' rooms to make sure they were downstairs. Indeed, they were.

I jogged down the steps and saw Xiorra sitting up into the barstool, shoveling Lucky Charms into her mouth. Ichiyo sat across from Xiorra, presumably to make sure she didn't choke from how fast she was inhaling the food. Gekyume sat a couple seats down from them, staring boredly at his phone while playing with one of his coils.

"Xiorra why you just now eating?" I asked.

"I ate earlier and I wanted more and I wasn't going to but you were taking too long so I just got some," she rambled quickly, then continued to shove spoonfuls of cereal into her mouth.

"Don't talk with your mouth full," I mumbled. "And slow down before you choke," I said a little more sternly.

She slowed down the slightest bit but picked back up again. I left it alone. I made it a point not to get into arguments with the kids or rile them up before they went to school so that they wouldn't go to school and have a bad day. And by bad day, I meant going to school and beating someone's ass for the smallest thing. For the oldest two, that was a regular occurance.

I sat down next to her and entangled my fingers in her thick, soft hair. It was full of coils, and it was moist, which let me know that Ichiyo had moisturized it. Since Xiorra didn't have a long enough attention span to take care of her hair, Ichiyo did it for her.
