"What a fucking week," I said in an exasperated tone. I watched as Zaria sat her backpack down at the foot of my bed and sat down on the bed across from me. I looked at the soft pink socks that were covering up her small feet and the silver anklet that she wore. I realized had to make an effort to wear more accessories.

"Tell me about it," she replied. Zaria was my favorite cousin and I hung out with her all the time. She was practically my sister and we were attached by the hip since birth. Zaria was only two weeks older than me. Even though she wasn't my blood family, she was a nice break from my actual siblings.

"Literally, Mom was back on her bullshit this morning—" I stopped and looked at my open door for fear that my mom had heard me curse. "Close the door."

Zaria got up and did as I asked, coming back and sitting down.

"She was literally trying to threaten me or whatever, talking about, 'see what happens when you get into another fight.'" I furrowed my eyebrows and tilted my head. "I mean, if people didn't say stupid shit that pissed me off all the time then I wouldn't be getting into these altercations."

Zaria laughed. "You need anger management classes."

"No, I just need to die so that I'm not surrounded by people all the time," I huffed. "It's just so annoying. She takes the fun out of everything because she's always trying to discipline me."

"At least Jahseh's nice." She shrugged.

"Whatever," I sighed. "All Jahseh's niceness gets undone whenever I come into contact with my mom."

"Okay, let's get off this topic before you blow up." Zaria adjusted her knotless braids iolthat were resting on her shoulder, sweeping them away so that they were all behind her. "You got a binge lineup ready?"

"Do I!" I perked. "We're going to watch Assassination Classroom in it's entirety."

"We already did that," Zaria groaned. "Like three times."

"I can never get enough of it," I said. "It's decided, that's what we're doing."

"Seriously though, can we talk about how you have no food in here?" Zaria said. I usually kept some food stored in my minifridge, but I didn't get to restock it since I was last here, so I was out. I liked what she kept in the kitchen but she never let me take food from the kitchen into my room, which was what my minifridge was for. The rule with my minifridge though, was that everything in it had to be paid for by me.

"You wanna run to the store and get some?" I asked her. We weren't doing shit anyways and I didn't mind getting out of the house.

"Sure, if you want. Will your mom let us?"

"Who cares, honestly, I'm gonna go anyway," I concluded, getting up off of my bed. "I'm not gonna watch TV without food."
