~Espada's POV~
It was a good day! I'd finished all my work for this week and I'd take the rest of the day off. Especially since I had dinner with my Sister later. I don't understand why she had to drag me to those after all these years!
I put everything on my desk away and got ready to leave the office at 3 PM. I locked the door and turned on the alarm system. I walked out of the building and into the pastry shop across the street.
"Penny for your thoughts?" An old, dark skinned, lady asked, placing down my order.
"How are you Mindy?"
"I'm fine. How are you?"
"I'm hungry." I said, pouting.
"I'll whip something up for you to eat." Mindy said with a smile.
Half an hour later, Mindy was back with food. She placed the plates down on the table and sat opposite me.
"This smells delicious! Thanks Mindy." I said, digging in.
"Where's your shadow?" She asked.
"Ash went home early." I answered without looking up.
"That young man was here this morning. The one you can't stop staring at." Mindy said.
"Mindy..." I spoke, placing my fork and knife down and looking up at her. "Out with it!"
"Out with what? That's it! He came to buy scones and left. He seemed... distracted." Mindy said, eating a fried egg from her plate.
"Out with the reason you brought him up!"
"There's no reason honey. Finish your food!" She said, kissing me on the forehead and walking back to the kitchen.
Mindy never does or says anything without a reason. But she always mentions her reasons when she feels like. Today, she didn't feel like it. She also isn't a fan on any of my associates or my family!
After two hours at the pastry shop, I got up to leave. Paid my bill and left a tip for Mindy who was busy with work back in her kitchen. I felt like taking a short walk before going home to take a shower and not long after, two people had joined me.
"Hey SP! Look what we have over there!" One person said pointing to the steps of a vacant house.
There was Harold who was busy picking up his things and of course Carol who was watching him like a hawk!
"Well well well. If it isn't the certified loser and his little girlfriend! Going out on a date?" I said as we got closer to the two and eventually stopped.
"Yes actually. But what would you know about dates? You've never been on one!" Harold's bodyguard Carol, retorted.
She has some nerve. I'll give her that. These people who had joined me on my walk have a penchant for unnecessary violence and they do a lot of stupid things in the name of gaining my favour. I could tell that one of them was about to do something stupid.
