How did I get in my bed? I wondered as I looked around for signs of anyone else in the house. My head hurt, no... my entire being hurt! There were new bandages on my arm and... a Cannula? Who on earth put me on dextrose?

"Hello?" I called out but even I could tell that my raspy voice was barely audible.

I heard shuffling and footsteps coming. I closed my eyes and pretended to sleep.

"Hey. Wake up and drink some water." Someone said cupping my cheek.

That's Espada's voice! What was he doing in my room? At my place? No way! This had to be a fever dream. I opened my eyes as soon as the hand moved away from my face to confirm that it was one of my friends and I'd only mistaken their voice.

"You're awake!" He said with a small smile. "Can you hear me?"

I nodded. Still not believing my eyes.

"That's good. Can you see me? Do you recognize me?" He asked. His brow furrowing with concern.

I nodded.

"Good. Who am I?"

Espada. The bane of my existence. An asshole. AHHHH!

"Espada." I whispered.

He smiled brightly at me like I was a baby that had spoken his first word. What was going on?

"You can call me Anthony. I know you have a lot of questions but I need you to take some water first, ok?"

I nodded.

He got up and helped me sit-up. He placed pillows behind my back so I could recline towards the headboard. How did so many pillows get here? I wondered.

He got a glass of water from the bedside table and sat next to me as he held it to my lips.

"Take small sips at a time." He instructed.

I drank half a glassful per his insistence and he put the glass down when I was done. He picked up a clean hankie and dried my lips. He was unbelievably gentle and from this angle, he looked... kind? I shook my head trying to shake the thoughts away.

"I'm sorry! I don't mean to overstep. It's just that—" He said with a panicked look on his face.

"It's alright. Thank you... Anthony." I said.

He nodded and finished up cleaning/drying my face.

"What would you like to eat?" He asked.

He didn't ask me if I wanted to eat, he asked what I wanted to eat. Something told me that was his polite way of saying I must eat food.

"Rice and beef stew." I answered.

"Excellent. I'll be right back. Call for me if you need anything by pressing this." He said handing me a small remote-control-looking device with only one small button.

"Esp... Anthony?" I called.

"Yes?"

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

"Food, then I answer all your questions. Deal?"

I nodded even though I wanted to scream at him. I was weak and whatever was going on, I thought it best not to upset him.

"What are you doing?"

"I want to pee."

"Use the catheter! You're in no shape to be moving." He said, gently pushing me back down onto the pillows.
