(Emily's pov)
I looked out the window of the school bus as I passed each house, listening to my heavy metal music. I was always a quiet student always trying to go unnoticed by my fellow classmates and teachers. The teachers being the annoying people they are , would always try to call on me in class, and when I wouldn't answer. They seemed annoyed but learned not to call on me in class. While all these thoughts were swirling around in my head I was suddenly hit by a ball of paper thrown at the back of my head. I quickly turned around only to be met with another piece of paper to the face. The students behind me were busy in a fight as I quickly turned back to look out the window. The hot Arizona sun was slowly setting and soon it would give of vibrant colors in the sky. So deep in thought about how pretty the sunsets were I barely noticed as someone pulled my teal colored headphones out. Until the person started waving their hand in my face. I turned wondering who had disturbed my music and was greeted by a pair of sparkling brown eyes I instantly smiled knowing who they belonged to.
"Cora" I breathed "you almost gave me a heart attack" Cora was my best friend we met on the swim team the beginning of freshman year we've been inseparable ever since.
"Serves you right for sitting here ignoring me while staring out the window" she teased. "Speaking of staring I see Emilio is eyeballing you again." At the mention of this her cheeks flushed a deep red color. "Shut up, you know he's with someone else."
I stared at her wondering if I should tell her what he told me earlier.
Flashback
"Emily can I talk to you for a second." Emilio the captain of the wrestling team asked me. "sure" I responded not knowing if this was about his girlfriend Natalie who happened to be one of the people on my club swim team. "Look" he said a hint of nervousness in his voice. " I really like someone that you know" he said quickly. "Ugh" I said rolling my eyes "If this is about you wanting to ask Natalie to prom then- " "I'm not talking about Natalie, Emily." "Okayyyyy" I said slowly "but aren't you and Natalie dating." He looked at me and I could see the pain and guilt in his deep brown eyes. "That's what I wanted to talk to you about she wants to speed up our relationship and I'm not sure I'm ready for that, plus I think I like someone else." I stood there waiting for him to start laughing at his joke but when I looked at his face he was serious. I was shocked at him saying he liked someone else since him and Natalie were all lovely dovey since 7 th grade. "Well" I said snapping out of my daze "who do you like then." His cheeks instantly flushed a deep red color. "Cora" he whispered so quietly I almost didn't hear it. I instantly said "then ask her out, I have a feeling she has mutual feelings." I responded wiggling my eyebrows to see if he understood what I was hinting at. Realization struck his face as he looked me straight in the eye and said "have you seen Natalie, I think it's time we both saw other people." I grinned "she has English with Mr. Welfley I'm sure you can catch her before she gets to class." with that he grinned and muttered a "thanks" and ran of down the hall to the B building. I quickly turned around and headed to my chemistry class hearing the bell ring.
End flashback
"Oh I thought you knew he broke up with Natalie this morning." Her face instantly light up. "Really" she finally managed to squeak out. I nodded. She started flipping out right there on the bus, it took me about 5 minute to calm her back down. I looked at her face and started laughing, it was priceless. As we both were laughing we didn't notice Emilio moving towards us until he managed to say (very deeply I might add) a "hello." Cora looked up and was shocked to see him sitting in front of us she finally managed to mutter a "hello" while looking down at her shoes trying to hide her blush. "So I was wondering if you um uh um ... Never mind." "What were you wondering " Cora asked looking up a slight pink still on her cheeks. " I was wondering if you had the homework for Mrs. Graves class yah lets go with that, he mumbled the last part." "Oh" Cora replied "we didn't have any."
"Ohhhhh" he said "That's what I thought so I'll just be on my way now." He turned away not knowing what else to say.
"Will you just ask her out already" I said to him. he blushes deeply before coming back and saying "Cora will you do me the honor of going on a date with you." "It would be my pleasure to go on a date with you Emilio," she giggled. She then turned to me saying
"Emily you are the best match maker ever."
