Chapter 6: A Walk To Remember

*whispers*

“Thanks doc.”

“Mr Christian, yes all the preparations for Miss Krislo have been made. Her appointments and all. She’ll be discharged today. but one more thing, we have to know if she’ll be safe. You see, Melody has been with us all her life. We promised her brother to look after her, they've both helped this hospital as we've helped them. even when they were young they would come over and hang out with the other sick kids, help clean up the hospital, run errands for the nurses and doctors. Even when they were both taken into foster care, they would always come here and paint pictures and play with the kids, most of Melody’s life happened on thse very floors within these walls. so we cherish her a lot. She is highly loved here. We need to know she’ll be in good hands. where she'll be staying, with what kind of people. I do hope you understand. We need to be in touch with her, you know, for medical reasons and incase anything about her brother comes up."

“I understand doc. I thought her brother took care of all of that before he left. John filled the necessary documents before he left. if there's anything I'd deal with it. I'll be sure to swing Melody by once in a while to visit, and if there's anything relating to her health I will bring her back. her health right now is the top priority to me.”

an hour later…

Melody and Liam had finished packing and were seated in his green jeep.  It was late morning by the time they left the hospital grounds. “so, where are we going?” Melody asked Liam.

“It's a surprise Princess.” Liam smiled

*silence* 

“Liam?” Melody called with  a more serious tone in her voice.

“yea? you okay?” he asked, sounding worried.

“about last night…” she started.

“It's okay Princess. we don't have to talk about it. it's okay.” Melody nodded in response and turned to look outside the window. beautiful sceneries, green pastures, ranches, barns, farm houses, lakes, cattle, so much that describes the countryside. It was so beautiful, serene and peaceful. 

“This place is so beautiful.” Melody complimented. “where are we?”
“It's a surprise Princess.” was all Liam said.

“hah hah hope you're not kidnapping me.”

“I'm not, don't worry.”

You see, the doctors told Liam that Melody doesnt have a long time left. and from their studies, she won't be able to live for another two years, or less. understand? It means Melody gabriella krislo is going to die within two years. and no, Liam didn't tell her. He told the doctors not to tell her as well, he called John and informed him too. After all, he did have a right to know. John got arrested, he didn't want his sister to know and became worried and caused pain to herself. So both men were keeping secrets from Melody whom they loved a lot. It was all to keep her safe from any more pain.  When Liam was told that she didn't have much time left, he got angry, he wept, punched stuff, brokestuff, threw things around.  she couldn't leave him. She was the first real thing that had stayed with him for so long. John said that with the short time Melody had to live she shoulnt spend it at school doing projects. She should spend it having fun, visiting places she loves, eating all the food she wants, watch all the movies she wants to, and he wants his sister to have fun, at least before she leaves. sigh. Melody dying, he and Liam didn't want to think about that.

After a long drive through fields and beside beautiful lakes, the green jeep finally stopped; in front of a broad blue lake and a beautiful lake house with huge glass windows, a staircase leading indoors. The building was beautifully painted white and sea blue, a simple patio outside. oh it was wondrous. The scent  of the fresh clear sand and the breeze coming from the lake, Melody got out of the vehicle and walked towards the lake, stood at its bank, opemed her arms wide, shut her eyes and felt it. the birds singing, the water passing through her feet, the feel of  the wet sand under her feet, the wind rippling through her dress and hair. she found it. She found peace. she found
