The promise

After our battle training it was time for lunch. The cafeteria was large and open buzzing with students, all three years worth of students and all classes were together in one room. You would have expected it to look very busy but the room was so large with so many tables it almost seemed barely full.

I was holding a tray in front of me, with large bowel of white rice topped off with a brown sauce.

"Hey Y/n come sit with us!" A familiar voice called out to me. I looked over to see Kaminari waving me over to a table. I have to admit the table was filled with some people I would like to get to know better. Pinky, the cute redhead and of course Kaminari. However across from them was Spikes, he looked angry that the electric boy had invited me to sit with them.

"Thanks Kaminari, I appreciate the offer. But I'm just going to sit on my own."

"Come on Y/n, you can't sit alone!"

"Watch me Pinky." I replied in a half joking half serious tone.

I sat down at a table that was completely empty before starting on my food. It was delicious!

"WHERE ARE YOU ALL GOING, DAMN LOSERS?" A loud voice boomed across the dining hall.

I raised my head to see the group of students walking over to me with food in their hands. "If your not gunna sit with us we're going to sit with you!" The Pink girl, who thanks to Kaminari I now knew was called Mina, said challenging me. They took their seats around me, before Spikes begrudgingly walked over and took a seat too.

"Your pretty amazing Y/n! I can't believe you dodged those ice attacks in training! It was super manly!" The redhead half yelled.

"Is that supposed to be a complement?" I questioned back to him, looking around the group for an answer.

"Yeah being manly to Kiri is like the biggest compliment he can give. But I have to agree, your pretty good in a fight. Without you Team I would have lost in seconds!" Mina reaffirmed to me.

"Yeah it was almost scary, the look on your face as you dove for Todoroki." Kaminari shivered as he spoke "If you would have dove at me like that I would have been too scared to move."

"Thanks guys, I mean combat is where I've previously been trained so it would be kind of embarrassing if I wasn't at least half good at it."

A loud tsk came from Spikes "You were ok, but you still lost in the end! You clearly got distracted by Todoroki and it lead to your teams failure!"

"Damn Bakugo, did you just say she was ok? That's the most complementary thing I've heard you say since we started. And almost more impressively you didn't yell it!" Kiri mocked the angry boy.

"SHUT THE HELL UP SHITTY HAIR! SHE CLEARLY ISN'T THAT GOOD OR SHE WOULD HAVE WON!"

"Sorry, what was that? I thought someone who let their pride take control of their battle, ultimately distracting him from the task at hand and also losing said something." I was trying to joke but it came out in a mocking tone.

"DO YOU WANT TO DIE DAMN BLOOD CLOT?"

"DO YOU WANT TO TRY ME SPIKES? IF YOU THINK YOU COULD TAKE ME DOWN WITH A FEW SHITTY EXPLOSIONS YOU'LL HAVE ANOTHER THING COMING!"

"Yo, chill out. It's only day two and you both already sound like you want to kill each other!" The black haired tape boy responded.

"Those two are scarily similar..." Kaminari whispered to Pinky.

"NO WERE NOT!" Spikes and I yelled at them at the same time with a look that could kill.

We had classes for the rest of the day, but it was now getting late. Spikes left the room after the rest of the class failed to stop him from leaving early.

"I'll see you later guys!" I said running out the door trying to catch up with the angry boy.

"Hey Spikes, stop walking so fast!" I yelled out to the boy.

"What the hell do you want Clot?" He growled back to me as I started to walk alongside him.

"I wanted to talk to you, I can see the anger in you. But it's not pure rage, it's filled with frustration with yourself and laced with betrayal. I know that feeling, and when I was going through that, I didn't have anyone there for me... So I just wanted to see if you needed to talk." I could see my younger self in him and I know how bad it hurt to be so angry at the world with nobody to vent to.

"You don't know anything about me Clot. I DON'T NEED YOUR PITY!" His voice got progressively louder as he spoke ending in an all out shout.

"It's not pity spikes, your clearly strong. I see myself in you, I don't pity me. I'm strong and I've been through a lot. And I can tell that's the same for you." At this point we were walking outside the front of the school towards the gates, his eyes looked at me slightly differently. He was still clearly angry, he always seemed to be but there was something else there.

"I'm not strong. I couldn't even-" the boy was cut off by a loud yell.

"Kacchan!" The voice of Deku sounded behind me, he had been absent from classes all evening so I was surprised to hear his voice.

"I'll leave you two alone." I said continuing my walk forward as the Spiky boy stopped on the spot.

I walked out the gate and started my slow walk to the station. I'm not sure I want to go back just yet.

After a little while of walking I heard a voice yell to me. "Damnit Clot! I thought you were gunna wait up for me outside the gates! It's pretty rude to walk off in the middle of a conversation."

I stopped in my tracks, I didn't expect to hear that voice again today. "I didn't know how long you'd be, the anger I was talking about earlier is clearly targeted at Deku. And besides who are you to tell me what's rude, your hardly mr nice guy."

"You were right you know. I let my pride get the better of me in my fight. Then when I was watching yours I could tell I wouldn't be able to beat that icy-hot bastard in a fight, but you stood your ground against him and would have came out on top if it wasn't for that other damn extra. You almost took him out too with one blow." His voice was quiet like he didn't want anyone else to hear him.

"Of course I was right, otherwise I wouldn't have said it. And you were right too, I got too invested in taking icy down that I completely forgot the training was even happening. Facemask took advantage of that, that's why I lost."

Another tsk came from the boy "But I'll train harder and become the strongest, if we ever go head to head your going down, so is that half and half bastard and that damn nerd!" His volume was back to his half shout half talk he had been using.

"If you ever want someone to train with I could always help out. I train every morning, I wouldn't mind having someone to push me further." I said not quite believing what words had just came out of my mouth. "Besides you can try all you want but you'll never beat me!" I gave the boy a small wink.

"Like I'd need to train with a damned extra like you! Your strong but I'll come out on top, you won't stand a chance against me!"

"Then it's a promise. When we go head to head it'll be a battle for the ages."

-An-
I hope you liked day two. I wasn't really sure how I wanted battle training to go and who to put Y/n up against but I knew she is strong and I thought this would be a great way to leave a lasting impression to the other students at her combat prowess.

I promise from this point it doesn't follow the story as closely I knew were only 4 chapters in but things are about to get twisty! I'm so exited for it!
