Chapter 17

Summer gets off to a great start. I write to Caleb every day. Near the end of the summer I decided to write a letter inviting him over.
Dear Caleb
Would you like to come to come over for rest of summer?
Don't bring Sophia.
From Bella.
I sent that letter in the post with stripes this morning. I was so excited to see what he would write back. I opened the letter forgetting to feed Stripes. All it said was alright I will. I turned the letter over to see if there was anything else. Nothing. I tore the letter up angrily.

The next day Caleb shows up. The minute he walks in the door he hugs me. There and then I forgave him. When I pull out of the hug I see Lysander and Sophia. I'd long ago moved on from Lysander but still hated Sophia. Me and Lysander were still friends. "What's she doing here?" I ask Lysander. "Didn't you hear?" He asks nervously. I look at Caleb. Caleb just shrugs. "Me and Sophia are dating so I had to bring her" he says acting like it was no deal in the world to overstep your territory.

I walk over to him and to everyones surprise smile. "Of course!" I say in a sickly sweet voice. They look amazed and then happy. I walk off with Caleb hoping to avoid Sophia the whole summer. I hear a giggle a chuckle then a splash. I'm in the water. Sophias laughing. Lysanders laughing. Caleb's shocked. He pushes Sophia then Lysander into the water before helping me get out. "Thanks" I said gratefully as I got out of the water.

He starts to nod and bursts out laughing. Me and Caleb decide that we'll have a picnic. He packs blankets towels and spare clothes . I pack sandwiches drinks and cake. When we're all set we set out for the picnic spot by the lake. I put out the blanket the foods and the drinks. We enthusiastically eat all the delicious sandwiches. We also eat the cake which is delicious. I brought water and coke for drinks. After the waters gone we tuck into coke. After all the foods gone we pack up and decide to stay a bit longer.

We run down to the lake. I jump in with Caleb. We both laugh and start to play around by splashing. We run around the water and if we don't feel like running swim. I had without him knowing brought a quidditch kit and two spare fire bolts from the broom cupboard. I had snitches, bludgers and every quidditch ball. When I told him this we played quidditch for a bit. As it started to get dark we had to go home. I was so glad I had had that day with Caleb. In two days it'd be back to school. I was almost glad. The summer had seemed too long.
