JAEGER

A loud, ear-piercing ring struck my ears, my eyes flashed white and I felt a stinging slap against my back as I made impact with the water.

I was still aware of what was going on around me but I couldn't move. It was as if I entered a state of temporary paralysis and all I could do was watch as the surface of the water slowly faded out of my reach, trapping me in a dark, cold world where I could neither breathe, move, nor escape.

My chest began to burn and my lungs pleaded for oxygen, begging for me to breathe. I succumbed to the demands of my lungs and my lips parted to take in a breath, but as soon as they did...

Everything went black.
