"So if I'm hearing this correctly..."
"Uhuh." Eda plays with the liquid of apple blood in her glass, swaying her cup slightly from side to side with the gentle hold of her palm. She eyes Raine, taking a swig of their wine with eyes closed in concentration to savor the taste then bringing themself back by processing her previous statement.
"You're telling me that there is someone interested in learning how to play the...?"
"Trumpet."
"Ah yes...trumpet." Raine places their glass down, pressing a thumb against their chin. They give Eda a knowing look, raising an eyebrow to see if they could get any sort of reaction from her. "And I suppose this is not a prank?"
She snorts and then proceeds to laugh out loud, almost spilling her drink as she rests her palm on her stomach. Eda wipes a tear out of her eye while Raine sits there, unbothered with that dorky smile on their face.
"What?" they question, grinning as their best friend slaps their shoulder.
"What do you mean what? Rainstorm, why would you think I'm pranking you when I say that some kid wants to take trumpet lessons with you?"
"Because it's so sudden?! I-Eda, I'm the last person anyone would ever ask to teach them about the trumpet." they gesture with their hands, crossing one leg over the other. "There's literally anyone out there who's much experienced and are professionals who offer music lessons just around the area. Why me?"
Eda had to stifle her laugh eventually, trying her best to listen after Raine explains their side. She grins at them, letting her arm reach enough just to let a hand mess up their hair. "Since when did you start doubting your skills?"
"At times when you're not around, of course," Raine replies cheekily, causing Eda to roll her eyes. She sips on her wine again observing the mess she made with her friend's hair after releasing her hand.
They push their glasses up to the bridge of their nose and some-freakin'-how it always manages to make her face heat up from the simple gesture.
Eda ignores the blood rushing up to her face, chuckling to herself in an attempt to remove any of the buzzing feelings she'd always feel whenever she was around them. Her best friend.
Or well, her crush.
Raine, cool, kick-buttiest, Whispers.
The love of her life.
And damn, she shouldn't have messed their hair up because it only made Raine look hotte-
"What's his name again?"
Eda quickly snaps out of herself, taking her best friend's question into account. She hums to herself quietly, placing her glass on the table to drum her fingers on it.
The two of them were in Raine's apartment and it was currently warm all thanks to the cozy afternoon. Orange and yellow hues alike along with the puffiest of clouds spread across the horizon as she spares the view a glance.
The afternoon bathed the buildings with its warm light including Raine's. Both of them decided to spend some time at the small table just by their balcony whenever they'd please (including strengthening their bond with their unending love for apple blood).
"His name's Hunter. The one Lilith and I used to babysit whenever mom brings him to our place. I barely remember him now though. He's like what now? Seven years old? Six? Don't remember." Eda shrugs, trying to remember the specifics. "So what do you say? Is it okay for you to teach him? He's been bugging my sister to find him a music expert."
