How can Levi have a dirty mind if he's a clean freak?

***
Eren's P.O.V.
The darkness surrounding me was cold, but all of a sudden a humming, like when you talk with headphones on, sent tingles across my skin, and I felt arms wrap around my neck and a head lay on my chest. I didn't have to crack open my eyes to know that it was Levi, but a wicked voice in the back of my head tried relentlessly to convince me that he was only there because Hanji made him. I was too tired to argue, but something else in my mind shut that voice up:

A memory.

At least, I thought it was a memory. It was more like a dream, but it gave me such a ridiculous sense of déjà vú that I felt chills run down my spine. Luckily, I could hear the soft snores coming from Levi, meaning he was asleep, so he didn't notice my back arching slightly.

"Captain Levi!" I call happily, practically skipping over to the short, raven haired man which I so admire. He turns from where he was readying his saddle and blinks at me as I salute to him. "Good morning, brat," he greets unenthusiastically, as usual. "You're up early." I scratch the back of my head modestly. "Eh, well I wanted to see you off," I admit. "I figured since you'd be leaving so early, no one would bother to come say goodbye, so..." A nervous, breathy laugh escapes my lips as I stare at the ground sheepishly, until I hear, "Huh," in Levi's voice, and my head shoots up. "Er, Captain?" I say. Levi mounts his horse (I don't know how) and stares ahead, but there is obvious satisfaction in his narrow, cool grey eyes. After a moment, he sighs and turns to me with a gentle grin gracing his lips. "Thank you," he says quietly before darting off.

I don't know why I remembered that, or what it meant if it meant anything at all, but I found myself smiling at the memory. It was nice, and faintly I recalled that that was the day that marked the beginning of what would later become a very, very close relationship - what you would call today "boyfriends". I also remembered how shocked I had been to see him smile, which wasn't so much of a rarity in this life. In fact, some parts of his personality were different as well. I guess it shouldn't have surprised me. After all, we weren't threatened by the titans anymore, so there was no need to be grim and awkwardly reserved the way he was in our past life. And that made me happy.

Yet here I was.

I exhaled heavily, stirring the sleeping raven beneath me. Managing to crack my eyelids open, I stared down at him and smiled at his forever furrowed eyebrows. I pressed my finger in between them and giggled softly, feeling the sense of hopelessness and sadness fading. His eyes slowly peeled open, revealing reddened, grey eyes. I felt guilt tug at my stomach for making him cry, but took deep breaths to calm myself. "Hi," I croaked, and in response, Levi's eyes widened and his head shot up to look at me. The only emotion registered in his expression was shock, which evoked unexpected disappointment from the pits of my stomach. "Well don't look so happy," I teased.

With a large sigh and a wobbly smile, Levi wrapped his arms around my neck, squeezing tightly as he gripped my shirt. I chuckled and hugged back, then coughed as he released me. "Eren," he mumbled, his voice cracking. He cupped my cheek, tears pricking at both of our eyes as we stared at each other.

Suddenly his eyes went wide and he cursed under his breath. "What is it?" I asked nervously. He let out a breathy laugh and ran a hand through his hair, grinning at me with annoyance in his eyes. "I have to let the nurse know you're awake," he informed with a sigh. "Why's that bad?" I chuckled as he stood, shaking his head. "Because I have to leave you," he whispered, running his fingers along the sheets that covered my body from the chest, down. "That, and she's probably gonna kick me out." I grinned, quickly recovering from the fangirl I had felt welling up when he said "because I have to leave you". "Okay," I smiled. With that, he left. Without a kiss..., I felt myself thinking.

Before long, Levi reentered the room along with a small girl with blonde hair and blue eyes like Armin, and my eyes widened at the sight of her. I had to resist the urge to tackle her, and did my best not to scream.

HOLY SHIT IT'S KRISTA.

My brain exploded with that one thought, and I couldn't help but wish Hanji was there to assure me that I wasn't just seeing things. I felt excitement coarse through me, and as soon as the feeling swept over me, both Levi and Krista sent worried glances my way. Krista walked over to the heart monitor and furrowed her eyebrows at it, then turned to me and tilted her head. "You alright?" she asked kindly. "Your heart rate just went up pretty high."

"Eh, it's probably just 'cause he saw you," Levi intervened. "Brat doesn't know how to keep it in his pants." He smirked at me as my face flushed bright red. "L-LEVI!" I screeched. The satisfied raven leaned back and laughed so purely that it made my heart ache and my face burn for a different reason.

Penis, now is not the time.

Krista chuckled and fiddled with the cap of the IV that was attached to my arm, then patted Levi's shoulder and walked out.

"Did she say anything?" I asked. Levi pressed the button on the side of the bed to help me sit up and pushed me to one side of the bed, then climbed in beside me, holding my arm to his chest and leaning his head on my shoulder. I shivered and winced as he traced his finger up and down my wrist gently. "She mentioned earlier that your condition was pretty bad," he started, "and that you might have to be admitted to MHS, but just a moment ago she said that your vitals looked normal and you seemed okay enough in the head that you should be released by no later than tomorrow." I scrunched my nose up at the idea of being put in MHS's care, but the mention of being able to go home made me happy.

I turned my face to Levi's to say something, but found him asleep. So, with a smile, I leaned forward, kissed his forehead, laid my head on top of his, and fell asleep, dreaming of him.
