Excitement flooded over my face and at the same time, somewhat shocked expressions made their way in my eyes. Veronica had to be my favourite book. Everything about it was just so perfect. The language, the description, the characters and specifically the realistic investigation was so well developed.

A death could never get worse for a family if their own people happen to have participated in the planned assassination. Veronica MacQuoid, a normal girl from the outskirts of the English village Clovely, was burdened with the responsibility of finding the death of her mirror image, practically what is called a Doppelganger, Veronica Blakes and her family. Whatever was in them, was no close to being amicable or to the least, good. Yet, she was responsible for her justice. However, the twist was everyone died separately but found together.

I had always known that the author was Asian even when nothing was ever found about the new "New York Times" best seller. Nobody knew her actual identity except that her interests were writing and taking care of her two daughters. Fans wrote letters to the publishing company, I did too. However, I never had the opportunity to get a signed reply unlike many others. I believed I was the unluckiest but I happen to be lucky much to meet the one no one personally knew.

"What? Really?"

"Yup. I mean, I shouldn't have exposed myself but you're my Y/n's friend and a detective. Absolutely I'm more pleased to have such a reader." A tint of red formed on her fair face, making her petite figure appear more attractive.

"Can we come back to the point?" Y/n moved on her position, as if indicating me to stop fanboying and come to what is more important. I would have disregarded her gestures if it had been any other day but that would be too wrong to do today.

"Yeah, sure. That's all that that I can come of. Just like in Veronica where Blakes' death had two culprits behind, consider that even if all the murders are related, two of them were committed by the same person and one by somebody else." Dami declared her thesis and got up, picking our plates and gently smudging the sauce stain from Y/n's lips with her napkin, and smiled at us before exiting the room, leaving us in an utter silence.

I chose to remain quiet, gradually absorbing the new idea of how the case could proceed further. If Anhyun and Bumjoon have a similar pattern, they could have a common culprit. On the other hand, Yohan must have been murdered differently.

Y/n opened her notebook again, circling over random writings. I tried to read what her pen wrote in place of the striked out points. It moved too swiftly to be understood but I made out that one of her sentences wrote "If Anhyun died, Yohan had to be killed."

I waited for her and when she finally looked up at me, I snatched the bunch of sheets to clarify what I read. My blood started boiling, thinking of all that she wrote. I accept that every detective had their own procedures but some ideologies make me regret being born as a human.
