A coven guard looked at the scene before them. The blood is all over the place, along with their fallen coven mates being dismembered all over the place. It had been several days since the incident. All the guards had been disemboweled and ripped apart like a stuffed toy. The guard just stared at the scene before they had a hand put onto their shoulder, the taller and more built guard next to the somewhat fit smaller one would speak, just starting at what was left of the comrades. "Man, I feel sorry for them. It's a miracle that the Wolfmare hasn't went after actual towns people."
The unnatural masculine deep voice of the bigger guard spoke. The smaller scout only stared for a moment before sighing and looking up to the one in charge. "Was there any tracks that you found? At least a paw print?" The voice sounded somewhat high, probably belonging to a teenager. To most it was quite annoying.
But no one would dare say it to the small guards face. Everyone knew who this was. This small guard was the only one to carry a golden mask on their face, despite being one of the higher officials under the coven leads and Lilith. The one who exceeded most but couldn't be brought up into power because of one person. The so called teen prodigy. "Yes, we did find one print. But it was quite a bit away from the sight. I assume that your guard dog tricked the scouts somehow."
The big male guard stated. The smaller guard, who turned their face to reveal that glistening gold owl like mask, would look up to the guard, now showing slight annoyance in their young voice. "I will go ahead and see if I can track the beast. You stay here and try to figure out a way to get more recruits for the Emperor." And with that the golden masked guard walked off. "Yes sir!" The bigger male saluted before going with his instructions.
The young teen prodigy, now walked in the direction of where the paw print was seen. He had only saw this spot briefly with the pictures that the guards took, but he had a very good remembrance. The Emperor did always say that the teen prodigy was the eidetic one out of everyone. Whatever that meant. It had to mean good if Belos sent the golden masked boy to investigate this scene. Soon after looking at some of the pictures, the young male made it to the spot. He looked down at the print, it was embedded heavily into the ground, like the creature itself shoved its entire weight into it to make sure the ground itself couldn't get rid of the mark.
He would then look around and notice the scorch marks near a tree where another corpse lied, but he saw that this corpse was that of another beast. 'So, they don't just go after people. They go after other creatures as well.' The teenager thought to himself as he took note that the body was burned into a wet crisp. He would look back to the print again and feeling it. So he would slowly feel around the mark itself, seeing if maybe he could feel more indents into the ground.
After a good minute or two he would finally feel another print, it was shallow, so shallow in fact that one couldn't see it by just looking at it. With that, the boy would call over a coven guard that was in the area. "Cast a tracking spell here." He said. The guard did as they were told, making their small circle and then pointing it to the ground where he had directed them to. Soon, the paw prints started to glow, revealing themselves under the light of the guards.
The male would smirk, feeling triumph as he stood up. "Follow along now, we are going to go catch ourselves a troublesome pet." He said. The guard, who projected a small female voice spoke up. "But, sir. Don't we need the rest of the guards? Don't you see what the Wolfmare has caused?"
The young male would stop and let out a frustrated groan, clearly already annoyed by the female guard. He would turn back to her, arms crossed as he would definitely be showing a frown right now if it wasn't for his mask. "Look, despite what you think about this, I alone can handle this. She was my guard dog for a reason. She will come to me if I get close enough. That's all she can do anyway."
