Harry's POV:
I walked out of the airport terminal looking for my two best friends. Low and behold I see my friends Liam and Zayn holding a upside down sign with my name on it.
"Hey guys" I said running towards them hugging them with my arm that wasn't full of luggage. "You guys know the sign is upside down right" I asked with a chuckle.
"I told you to make sure it was the right way around" Liam argued at Zayn.
"I wasn't the one who couldn't find his car keys and was running late" Zayn argued back defensively.
The two started bickering with each other completely forgetting I was there. I really missed them, I'm glad we all decided to move together to America. Even though the boys drive me crazy I wouldn't have it any other way.
"Alright guys let's go, I swear if you bicker the entire way there, I will go crazy" I said grabbing my luggage and walking to the parking lot.
After loading up the car we headed off to our new home. Liam and Zayn of course started arguing about directions the minute we left the parking lot. I swear those two become more and more like a married couple every day.
I gazed out the window thinking about everything that is going to happen now because I'm here. I thought of Louis, I haven't properly skated on the ice with him in years. I mean warmup before competition doesn't count, It's just not.
...
"Alright Home sweet home" Liam said pulling me from my trance and parking outside our new flat.
The building was massive. I didn't know what it was even going to look like, apparently, it's where all the ice skaters live. The coaches like to make sure that we aren't getting in trouble, especially because most of us are young. The building was big and tall, a far cry from my old flat back in England. I guess this means I'm in the big leagues now doesn't it.
Charles, the bellhop, helped me and the boys carry up my stuff which wasn't much, but he insisted. Most of my stuff got delivered last week while the boys were setting up the flat. Apparently, I get the smallest room because I was the last to move in. Apparently, there was a big fight over the bigger room that got decided by fate, or in other words a coin flip.
The apartment was nice, it had three bedrooms and one big common room. Zayn and Liam's rooms were next to each other while mine was across the flat just off the kitchen. I don't mind having the small room though, it's nice and private. I have been in the public light since I was fourteen, so I knew having some kind of private space was crucial to one's sanity.
I spent the rest of the day unpacking the boxes and making my room homey. After adding what I call special style's style to the room it was finally perfect. I laid in bed reading for a while, but I was too excited for tomorrow to pay any attention. I heard a knock on the door and sprang up.
"Hey Harry, you missed a box I think this one is from your mum" Zayn said opening the door and placing the box on the floor.
"Your mums hot" Liam yelled from the living room.
"Oh, shut it Payno" I yelled back shutting the door with a laugh.
I kneeled down on the floor opening the box, everything I wanted to bring was already here. This box was a complete mystery. There was a note in the top from his mum. 'Here are some of your old knickknacks that I thought you might want in your new home, love you xx mum'. She is honestly the sweetest.
Inside the box I found some of my old trophies and medals, along with other little things. What really caught my attention was a magazine at the bottom of the box. I reached for it slowly as if I was afraid, it would bite me. I haven't seen this magazine in over five years. It was an issue of a figure skating magazine. The pages were warped and torn, all except the page which I had tabbed with a post it note. I opened up to the page and felt a rush of sadness and yearning fall over me.
There was a two-page spread about Britain's up and coming star skater: Louis Tomlinson. The main picture was louis doing a triple loop, but there were other pictures around of him smiling on podiums and at the rink. He looked so happy back then.
I still remember the day that the magazine came in the mail. I snatched it from my mum's hands and ran down the road to Louis' house yelling "it's here, it's here". I burst into his house and tackled him with excitement. Me and him spent hours sitting on his bed looking at the magazine together.
I begged and begged louis to give me his autograph. Louis refused at first saying that he was still the same louis and that there was no need to get an autograph from him of all people. But I insisted.
Louis grabbed a sharpie off his desk and wrote the words that can still be seen today.
'You're my star Harry, always and forever. Louis xx'
I caressed the words with fingertips. I wish that the words he wrote then still rang true now. We were once everything to each other, it was me and him against the world. Until he moved always and cut everyone out of his life. He moved on from me a long time ago, so did I, I guess. He still has an ever-present place in my mind though. He was the first person I loved, even if it was unrequited, it was still my first.
I placed the magazine on my shelf and propped it open to louis' page with an old trophy. I laied on bed staring at the old magazine thinking about the good old days with louis. It was a simpler time where I had louis and he had me. Now we are split by his need to win, even though he is already the best. I drifted into a dreamy sleep thinking of the past and wishing it was the same.
