Chapter Twenty-Four: The Mall

Anala's pov:

"What do you mean I want you? You kissed me." I scoff standing up and coming face to face with Alex.

"Mmm but you... you kissed me back. You even enjoyed it" He says, cocking his head slightly. I don't like the look in his eyes. He seems to think he has so much control, so much power. But he doesn't and I'll be damned if I let him win this.

Who the hell made me this stubborn? I swear it's exhausting sometimes.

"Alex, you kissed me. I did kiss back but that doesn't mean that I want you." I say with a short laugh.

Even though I do want you, Alex. Shut up, that isn't important.

"Anala." He says, his voice lowered to a whisper. "You are not very convincing, you know?" He finishes his sentence and walks out of my room.

~~~
"Quit pulling your punches, Luca!" I yell breathlessly. Luca and I have been sparring for the past hour and he keeps holding back.
"Anala I just don't wanna hurt you." He says out of breath.
"Luca I have been tortured and I murder people for a living. I think I can take a few hits from you, K?" I say rewrapping my hands.
"K." He says, sighing.
"Why don't you try again another day? You guys are done for today. Anala I need you in my office." Mateo says standing in the doorway of the gym, he does not look too happy. I nod and follow Mateo to his office.
When I get in there I sit down and watch Mateo as he walks to his seat. He then pulls a thin file out of the drawer to his right.
"I have an assignment for you. Everything you need to know is in the file, you will be going alone. His name is Colin Smith, and you are not going to kill him. You are going to bring him to the warehouse on 8th-mile street and then we will take care of him. Understand?" Mateo says in his all-business voice.
"We?" I ask, taking the file from Mateo.
"You, Me, Kaz, and Alex."
"Okay," I say opening the file to see a person's report, including his appearance, age, family, job, etc.
"Kaz will be your driver so be ready tomorrow at 3." He says and I nod, then head out. I go into my room and start studying everything in the file.
By the time I feel like I know everything I need to know about Mr. Colin Smith, the clock reads 10:32 pm.
I picked out an outfit for tomorrow and head out to the kitchen to get something to eat. I go straight to the fridge.
"I put your leftovers in a special container, to the left." I hear Nick say from behind me.
"Ahhh you are a godsend," I say with a laugh pulling out the container full of steak and potatoes. This may sound like a meal almost too basic to be served in a mafia house, but truth be told these nights are my favorite. They make me feel normal even if it's only for a minute.
"Are you talking to me or the steak?" Nick asks with a laugh.
"Mmmm how about both," I say popping the container into the microwave.
"Have you heard anything from Mateo about Christmas? I've been meaning to ask him." Nick says, wiping down the counters.
"No he has been so into work lately we never really talk about anything else. I honestly forgot Christmas was a thing," I laugh.
