Chapter 1 ~ The Tailor

Dolores' POV

My stomach hurt from trying to hold in my laugh. I held my hands over my mouth and sides in an attempt to control myself.

"Mariano! Abuela's gonna hear us" I whispered aggressively through laughs.

"I want the whole world to hear your beautiful laugh" he smirked.

He always knew how to make my heart flicker. 

"It's too early for anyone to be laughing!" I snorted and punched his arm softly.

He winced jokingly and laughed. 

He smiled and stared into my eyes.

"What?" I grinned and held his hand.

"Nothing" he answered and sighed.

"What!" I opened my mouth exaggeratedly and hit him with a pillow.

He gasped and grabbed another pillow.

"No!" I yelled and giggled.

He hit me with the pillow and broke out laughing.

I jumped on the bed and smacked him once again.

"I see how it is" he said with a grin.

He quickly climbed the bed and started bouncing.

"You're such a child!" I giggled.

He pulled my arm to start jumping with him.

"Abuela's gonna be so mad, Mariano!" I chuckled.

"Don't worry, mi amor. She loves me" he smiled.

I scoffed and stopped jumping.

Mariano swiftly hit me with the pillow and I fell against the rest of my pillows.

He threw himself on the bed and lied next to me.

I cackled and gasped for air.

"I was staring at your beauty, you know?"

I blushed and held my stomach.

I quickly sat up in panic.

"You have to go! I hear her coming" I insisted, starting to push him out the window he climbed.

"Ok! Ok!" he said anxiously.

He stepped out the window carefully and quickly.

"Ay!" he winced panickily.

"Perdón pero necesito que se apure!" I said desperately. 

The steps got closer and closer. I ran to fix my bed. I propped my slippers in front of my feet to seem as if I had just gotten up. The door knob turned and the door opened.

"Good morning, Dolores" Abuela said with a cold tone. 

She began scanning the room with suspicion.

"Buenos días. What are you looking for, Abuela?" I asked nervously.

"Nothing. Your tía Julieta made breakfast" she responded dryly.

"I'll be right downstairs" I mumbled with a smile.

She scoffed with a grin and stepped out.

I looked in the mirror and tucked some curls behind my ear. I washed my mouth and cleaned my face off. I put cloth in my ears to drown out some sound and headed downstairs.

"Good morning, casíita" I whispered while tracing my hand down the stair's rails.

The wooden steps swiftly steepened, carrying me to the bottom floor where the tiles pushed me to the kitchen. 

Tía Julieta smiled at me as a greeting.

"Why is there so much food?" I asked walking around the kitchen examining it.

"We're getting measured today, remember?" Abuela answered and continued drinking her coffee.

I still couldn't understand why we had so much more food than usual if it was only Doña Luna was coming over but I didn't question it and grabbed a cup of coffee.

"Thank you, Tía" I said quietly while raising my cup.

My aunt nodded and continued serving coffee.

 There was a sudden knock on the door that I didn't recognize. The steps I heard before either. I was confused even more now. The knocks were much quicker and harder than Doña Luna's. My grandma wiped her hands on her dress and hurried to the door.

"Welcome to Casa Madrigal, Samuel" Abuela greeted him.

He was tall with glowing brown skin. His hair was brown and he had shoulder-length locs. His eyes were brown. His smile was pearly white and unsure.

I smiled and waved at him.

"Thank you" he answered shakily.

He smiled in return.

"It's incredible you're taking over the family business, mijo. I'm sure your mother is very proud of you" Abuela told him.

"I try my best" he chuckled lightly.

"Julieta made breakfast. Would you like some?" she offered.

"Thank you, really, but I ate before coming over here" he replied sweetly.

"Bueno, but next time remember to always visit on an empty stomach" she laughed.

He grinned and nodded.

"Well, you can measure Dolores first" she said.

"Hm!" I squeaked.

I forgot how long I've been telling you guys that I was gonna publish this story lmaooo.
