Emma pov:

It had been hard to say the least. Hard on everyone the past year. Every dinner they had together in that temple felt..... incomplete.

Emma knew Norman wished it would have been him shipped off instead of Ray. She knew he wished he hadn't intervened with his fate, but they both had to face it. Ray was gone. Food for the demons.

Over the year, they got over Ray's death.... Mostly. Emma still thought of him a lot. She really missed him, and not only her, all of the kids missed him.

Emma and Norman were still saddened by his death inside, but they had a duty. They had duty to protect their siblings.

One night though, Emma found Norman outside.

"Can't sleep?" Her voice quite cheery.

The white haired boy turned to look at her. "I'm just thinking about how we are going to get the other kids out of the farms..." he said. Emma knew it was more than that.

"I know that's not all, Norman." She paused for a moment before continuing. "Your thinking about him, aren't you?" It had never seemed to dawn on Emma that Ray and Norman had feelings for each other.

As much as she was a leader, she still was quite oblivious. But Norman would never admit to his old crush on Ray, it would be too painful.

"I just really miss him..." he looked away. "What would Ray do in this situation? What would he say?"

Emma walked over to her friend. Putting a hand on his shoulder she said, "It's not your fault, Norman. It never was." She smiled at him.

"Thanks, Emma."

Ray pov

I would laugh or smile, but this place makes me feel like I won't do it again. Gosh, I hate this place. It's why I'm about to burn it down. I always had a thing for fire anyways. Me and Vincent made sure everything was prepared, so as I sat in my chair, I felt a strange sensation in my chest. I would finally get the taste of freedom. Even if I died, I would die with freedom.

And so I wait. Every second seems to drag on. My eyes narrow. I know though, that I'll never truly be free  until I see Norman and Emma. Even just once. It would be enough, if they're not dead.

'You better be alive if- no. When. I find you.... You better.'
