Jade:
I swung open the bathroom door and locked eyes with Diamond. I catch her hand before it crashes into me."Are-are you alright?" She stammered.
She notices the cut on my cheek and lightly caresses her thumb over it. Something about her gentle touch sets my body on fire as I kiss her neck passionately. Before I make contact with her lips. I stare into her eyes searching for any hesitation. When I found none I plunged my lips into hers. I've waited for this moment for so long.We part lips to catch our breath then a servant knocks on the door to tell me her mother requests my presence. I must admit I was terrified when I heard Diamond's mother wanted to speak to me. But I was also equally intrigued. She was waiting for me in the lounge by the fireplace. She looks over to me and sighs.
"Why do you love my daughter?" She asks in a blunt manner that completely catches me off guard.
"I beg your pardon, Your Highness?" I was unsure if I had comprehended the question.
She stares back at the fire and continues to speak. "You've gotten yourself and my daughter in a world of trouble..." she turns towards me again. "So I will ask once more... WHY my daughter? Among all the women of this land? Why the one person who couldn't have been the worst possible person for you to try your little ventures on?!" She spat.
My blood boiled as she said that. "I am not toying with your daughter! I have loved her for many of years!" I began to choke up but continued. " No matter how many women I meet in my lifetime!.. It will always be her! Forever beautiful, gracious, kind, and brightly shining... She's always been a Diamond but she's so much more to me!" I began tearing up as my emotions began to overwhelm me. " This life isn't worth living without her!... So please don't say that I toy with her..." I said.
Her mother didn't speak for a moment then wiped her eyes. When did she start crying?
"Good" she simply said then walked over to pour herself a glass of wine. I wipe my eyes and look at her confused.
"Your Highness I don't understand?" I say. She gestures to me a glass of wine and I accept, holding it in my hands.
"I've seen the way you looked at her.. even as a child, I knew..." she said. She takes a big gulp of wine as I join her.
"She's not safe here... my husband..." she choked out the last bit of words then chugged some more wine. I awkwardly stared down at my wine as I remembered their arguing as we came in. She takes a deep breath.
"Will your father and mother accept her?" She asks. I ponder for a moment but haven't really given much thought to it. My mother no doubt would object to us.. but I honestly hadn't even considered what my father might think.
"I'm sorry...I do not know" I said. I couldn't lie to her
She sighs while leaning on the wall. She shakes off her obvious disappointment and faces towards me.
"I will make the proper preparations for you early tomorrow. You must convince her to flee with you" she said.
Taken aback I put down the wine glass on the mantle.
"I'm sorry. You want us to flee!?! This- That! We can't up and leave our Kingdom! Our home!" I protest
She sighed. "Where would we even go?..." I said looking down. She walked over to me and lifted my head.
"And...What if your father is like my husband?" She spoke softly.
Before I could answer we both heard shouting coming from upstairs. I ran up the stairs to find Diamond on the ground with her father towering over her.
"Your Highness!" I snapped. At that moment when I saw her on the ground holding her face, I boiled over with rage! In a fit of rage said some snarky remarks to the king. He left and I comforted Diamond till she fell asleep.

As Diamond lay sleeping I thought about what her mother said. My mind was terrified as I thought of all the possibilities... These thoughts invaded my dreams as well
