298 AC — Kings Landing — 2 days later

"YOUR GRACE, it is time." Anya spoke to a restless Kiyana.

For the past two days, Kiyana has been nothing but restless. Her eyes wouldn't even shut.

So she often found herself standing on her balcony that out-looked King's Landing with the greatest view. She would stand for hours leaning against the railing, watching the trillions of stars align and twinkle with freedom, waiting for the sun to rise and shine its pink and orange hues.

Her forearms eventually developed pinkish bruises that later on faded to a faint purple due to all the hours she spent leaning against the railing and watching over her Kingdom.

Kiyana had always been one to bruise easily. If she used a part of her body for too long and used up too much might, that part of her stature would become bruised, even if she hit a part of her body the tiniest bit.

That's just how she was.

But she always did best to cover up her injuries.

She was a Princess.

She had to portray the appearance of one.

And she hated doing so.

So one day, she picked up a sword and trained with it in hand for hours — which eventually turned to days, then weeks, months, and years.

Her passion for wielding a blade became stronger than her title.

But her skill set in fighting would never be put to use, anyway.

Even if it were useful and a woman was allowed to wield a blade, she would be killed.

Women are nothing more than prey.

At least, that is how men see it through their vicious eyes.

Kiyana was a rose covered in thorns.

Perhaps a more villainous flower.

"Yes, it appears so." The Princess tore her gaze away from the view of the Kingdom, walking into her chambers and away from the railings of her alluring balcony.

"All that is left is to dress." The handmaiden said, approaching the Princess with a set of garments in hand. "You must prepare for the cold of winter."
