One day the news will say 'Joanne K. Rowling died today' and my children will not understand why I left the room crying to go read some old book named 'Harry Potter'

Millions of men and women will dust off the old toy wands

the browning pages of their childhood

strange cloaks

black rimmed glasses that haven't been worn in decades

and those men and women will hold vigils in the street as a soft, sad, melody echoes around the crying faces

"Hedwig's Theme"

and the halls of Hogwarts will spring to life again. As those same men and women go home to their families and hold their children, who don't know what Harry Potter is
