(Grayson’s POV)

“Baby, go get your brothers, we need to talk.” Her voice held a certain gentleness about it but had a hint of demand. I knew not to cross my mother especially when she’s like this, she is truly unpredictable.

My father, he was predictable, he was a mafia leader. Everyone always thinks so highly of mafia leaders, all the books talk about how emotionless and unpredictable they are but the truth is if you spend your entire life with a person, they become predictable to you. You learn every one of their mannerisms, you learn to read them.

I start for the door, leaving my parents behind, turning right and heading down the hall to go back up the stairs, and attempt to go wake my older brother's, only to come face to face with their worried expressions.

As they bolt off the last step both boys immediately start checking for injuries, holding me at arm's length.

"I'm fine," my voice comes out flat and void of emotion. My statement doesn't seem to relax either of them in the slightest, but I don't think they'll ever be able to "just relax", being constantly on guard comes with the territory of being a mafia bosses kid I guess.

"Who's having the screaming match?" Nico questions, an annoyed look plastering over the once worried one, eyes training on the dark wooden floor. Liam's still eyeing me and our surroundings, making sure that everything is truly fine.

"Mom and Dad," both boys' eyes snap onto me once again. "They want to speak with all of us." I turn and start back towards the kitchen, leaving my brothers to trail behind.

The door swings on its hinges and my parents jump, not expecting me to be back this soon. My father is still standing in his spot, leaning on the counter, across from our mother.

Our mother still had fresh tears running down her cheeks, not bothering to wipe them away.

I make a quick breakfast for my brothers and I, and walk over to the island, taking my seat in between the two.

“Kids,” Our father's voice screams business, where his voice is usually light and playful, it reminds me of stone, cold and hard. “We’re sending you off to California, Los Angeles to be specific. You have till noon tomorrow to finish packing, the jet will be waiting. This is non-negotiable.” The silence in the room is deafening, it’s like everything is moving in slow motion. “Don’t just sit there go!” His loud voice echoed around the room, bouncing from wall to wall finally landing in our ears, causing my brothers and I to flinch slightly.

I look to either side of me, searching for some explanation from the two older boys sitting beside me, but I find nothing.

Our quick breakfast stays untouched.
