"Amadah has said that she would try to get the two people that accompanied her when we met to join her. The man is her cousin and the woman her sister." I inform Corie once we're out of the house.
"That is fine. But I won't stay long, I don't wish to get to know them, I only wish to know her intentions with you."
I frown. "She has no intentions, we are simply friends. Her sister doesn't take very kind to me, yet she stays my friend."
He frowns. "Why doesn't her sister take kind to you?"
"She thinks I will get them all killed."
He hums. "They are our enemies so that is understandable."
"I hold nothing against them. I see not why they are our enemies, they have done nothing to us."
"Nothing that you are aware of." He says.
I don't think they've done anything.
We soon reach the creek and I spot Amadah sitting by it looking our way. "Osiyo." I greet her with a smile.
"Osiyo." She smiles and turns to us so her back is facing the creek.
"Osiyo?" I hear Corie repeat in confusion.
"It means hello, in her language." I whisper.
"Oh. She looks... angry."
I observe her face not noticing anything different in her expression, it's neutral. The way her brows are angled does give one the illusion that she is grumpy, I find it cute. "She isn't, that's just the way her face rests."
As we get closer I realize her cousin and sister are nowhere in site.
"Where are your cousin and sister?" I ask and sit beside her, Corie sits in front of us.
"They did not wish to join me. Cousin was quite angry to learn of our meetings." She smiles sadly before looking at Corie. "But It is lovely to see you again."
Corie looks surprised by her mannerisms. "I am only here because I wish to know why you see my sister, your intentions can't be good."
I glare at him for being rude but he ignores it.
Amadah seems confused. "I have no intentions, we are only friends." She glances my way.
"I don't believe you're word, our people tells us that you aren't to be trusted."
"We aren't to be trusted?" She repeats. "When you're people first came to this land we taught them how to live on it. Years later their thanks is taking our land and killing us. You aren't to be trusted."
His brows knit together. "Surely your people done something to upset ours. They can't hate without reason."
"We wouldn't give up our land without fighting and we refuse to believe in your god, those are the only reasons."
"That can't be the only." He says.
"It is."
"You expect me to simply believe your word?"
"No, I have no care. It's not your friendship I seek." She says in an unbothered tone.
I hold in a giggle at her jab while Corie looks angry.
Before he can say anything I speak. "Let her tell you about the Nunna daul Tsuny (Trail of Tears)."
"What's that?" He asks.
Amadah answers. "The deadly walk your people made mine take from Georgia."
"Walk? What made it deadly?"
