I walk into the hut finding Ama sat on her bedding with the primer on her lap. She is quite determined on learning how to read.
She looks up and smiles at me, placing the book to her side. "I considered looking for you as you took quite some time today." She says as I walk to her after closing the door behind me.
I nod. "Me and Yona were weaving baskets."
It was a lengthy task, the sun starting to set outside though we started in the morning but I enjoyed learning.
My eyes fall to the necklace still around Ama's neck and I smile. She hasn't taken it off since I gave it to her three days ago. Even when we are... larking she keeps it on unlike our garments. I am the same with the bracelet she made for me.
"I've missed you the most today." She pulls me close, lips landing on mine.
I can only grin. "It is everyday we are apart that I miss you." I admit.
She grabs my face, her lips finding their return to my own. A quiet squeak of surprise leaves me as she lifts me and lays me on the bedding. Her body hovering over me before our kiss is continued.
Three days and I still have yet to confess my love to her. I'm not sure why I'm waiting as it shouldn't come as a surprise to her, courting is expected to lead to love after all.
We're shortly interrupted by a knock at the hut door. Ama sighs in an annoyed manner as she climbs off of me. She helps me up and smooths out my dress before doing her own.
("You are welcome in!") She calls out, boredly looking at the door.
The door opens, a man I don't recognize entering. He appears to be one of their warriors from certain markings he has. I've learned that each marking has a very significant meaning. ("The girl's brother is here again and he wishes to speak with you.")
Ama frowns to whatever he has said. ("It is just him?")
"Uh-Uh." I understand the man's reply to be a yes but to what I not a clue.
Ama glances to me before looking back to him. ("Wait out side for me please.")
The man nods before leaving.
"What is it?" I ask.
"Your brother is here again."
"Oh." I mutter my eyes looking to the ground. "I'll wait here then." I tell though it isn't what I wish.
She cups my cheek in her palm, her thumb rubbing in a soothing manner. "I'm sorry I know this isn't what you wish."
I bring my hand up to cup hers as I lean into the touch slightly. "It isn't but I understand that this how it must be." I drop my hand and hers follows.
"I shall return." She says and leaves when I give a small smile fighting the tears that wish to break. I miss my brother.
A few tears fall when she's gone but I quickly wipe them and compose myself. I wonder what could possibly bring him back. I stare off at the wall in my thoughts as I wait for Ama to return to me.
What felt to be a long while later the hut door opens. Ama walks in and I gasp as my brother follows in behind her, closing the door behind himself.
"Corie?" I question in disbelief as I jump to my feet in surprise. I quickly walk to him pulling him into an embrace before he can even manage a response.
He smiles as he stands next to Ama. "It is good to you see you sister, I knew you were alright."
I look at Ama wondering what made her change her mind? She doesn't look too happy by him being here. "I've missed you so much dear brother." I say as I step away.
