I woke up at 6 oclock and started getting ready. I got a shower and left my straight hair down and pinned the front up. I had on a green short skirt with shorts underneath along with a white cropped top. I put on mascara and grabbed my backpack.
"You ready?" Curtis asked, knocking on my door.
"Yea".
"Alright, meet me in the car".
I opened my door and walked into the kitchen, my dad was still lying on the couch asleep. But there were more beer bottles surrounding him. I opened the front door and saw my brother sitting in his gray jeep that our mom bought him a couple years ago. He was wearing a blue polo shirt along with jeans and white air forces. I scoffed as I sat down in the passenger's seat.
"What" he asked as I shrugged nothing.
"You could look like me if you wanted," he said as he put his car in drive.
"Well, I'm not going to pretend to be a kook. So I'll dress like a Pouge".
He rolled his eyes, "I'm not pretending to be rich, you just have to get a job".
"I have a job".
"Really because clearly they're not paying you enough" he added as I looked at my phone.
I was messaging John B asking him about what time he thinks he's going to be at the school. The rest of the ride to school was very quiet and awkward. Curtis pulled up to the school and parked near all the rich kids. He waited in his car.
"Yes I know, I'll get out of the car first because I'm such an embarrassment that your sister is poor," I replied mocking my brother.
"Yep, plus I'm not that one going to summer school" He said, unplugging his phone from the cord.
I hopped out of the jeep and walked to the front of the school, where all my friends were.
"Hey" Maggie said as I smiled.
"Hello".
"I think Mrs. Jane went on maternity leave today," Maggie said.
"She was pregnant?".
"Yes, that's why she never wore tight stuff" Maggie responded.
In summer school they only put you in one room. So everyone was stuck in the science room. They were making us do a science project and an ELA project to get some other points in. John B was paired up to sit with me for the rest of summer school on the left side 2 rows to the back. Maggie and JJ got paired up together, and they sat on the right side in the back row. Maggie had out her science notebook and Chromebook, JJ had out the book they needed to work on the project but that's also because the teacher was standing near them.
"What do you need me to do?" I questioned as John B put his hands in his hair.
"See this is what you get for sleeping in class" he said as I looked at him defensively.
"He's so boring I can't help it, usually the Pope tutor me".
"That's why we're going to summer school," John B added. "You need the book out, I'm going to write the research on the google doc. You're going to write in my notebook the research links, so we don't lose the websites we found it on".
"Oh okay" I said as I reached in my backpack to grab my science notebook and pencil.
"No my notebook" he said as he handed me his notebook.
