Chapter 6

Beatrice pov

I thought he would come with us. Why didn't he come with me? He set himself for more beatings and I can't bear the fact he didn't come. Didn't he want to get away from his father? What about his mother? Did he want to save his mother? But his mother never saved him from beatings in the first place. Oh Tobias, why? My best friend isn't coming and I will never see him again.

I walk to my house with dried tears on my face. I try to wash them off but there not leaving. I see Caleb through the window packing his things. He seems so happy to leave.

As I come through my house I see bags of clothes and food, Caleb really wants to leave. I walk to my bedroom and pack my things. My life has changed in these past few days. But that's how it should be, changing every day since no one wants to live the same life. But in abnegation, it's hard to live life a little different everyday.

I pack all my things in 2 bags within 10 minutes. I drag them downstairs and set them by other bags. Then, I sit outside. The way all the houses look alike bothers me and pleases me. But to be selfless means to have all the houses look alike, I'll take it. Abnegation is where I belong.

Down the street is Tobias's house. I have so many questions that will never be answered. My heart aches.

Mother comes down the street.

"Are you ready?" Caleb asks. He's outside too.

"Yes." I smile.

I walk inside. Running upstairs to my room, I find something. Tobias's mini frog stuffed animal. When was he even here?

I grab the frog. It smells like his room. Oh Tobias! Why!? He didn't leave this on purpose. I look at it. There's a pocket and I look inside. There's a picture. It's of me and Tobias. We're laughing. I look on the back. There's words but I can only read a few.

"Are you ready bea?" Caleb comes walking in.

"Yes, Caleb can you read this?" I ask

He reads it out loud.
Beatrice
I'm running away, come find me if you can.

Caleb's eyes get big. Go find Tobias?! Did he leave to? Will I see him again? Where do I go? How do I find him?

"Beatrice we should find him and we could all help each other." Caleb says

"But where do we find him?" I ask

"I don't know," he says "what time did you leave him?

"Um when I came home?" I answer

"That was about 2 hours ago." He says

He runs downstairs and tells my mother. I grab the rest of my things and go downstairs.

"We could work together mom!" He yells excitedly

"We need all the help we can get." Mother says

"Okay we need to go." Caleb says

I grab bags and set out to look for Tobias and a better life.

Sorry guys I haven't been posting. I couldn't log into my account and FINALY figured it out. Hope you guys are liking the updates. I was writing this is class 😂
