Tobias pov

I lay on the floor. He must have been mad or something, but why? He's leaving but he's probably teaching me a lesson.

I hear a small knock on my front door. Who can that be?? No one really knows who I am or knows I'm alive. I'm quite frightened but I hear her voice, Beatrice.
No please. She can't see me like this. She knocks a few more times and then disappears. She doesn't deserve this. But that's all I can give to her.

I decide to get up. For some reason, I go to check if she's there. I peek out of the curtain and I see a fragile little girl. She has her head between her knees. And It looks like she's crying? Why? I can't stand to see her like this. I run to the door.

"Beatrice." I whisper opening the door.

"Tobias?" She sniffles

"Come in here." I say

She quickly comes in and I shut the door behind her.

"How long have the beatings happened?" She says standing in front of me.

"I don't know what your talking about." I say sternly.

"Don't, you can trust me." She whispers.

I sigh. "Almost a year."

"That's a long time to be treated like that." She whispers

"If I had any control over it, don't you think I would try to make it stop." I snap.

She looks at me with sadness in her eyes. She didn't come here to be snapped at. I'm lucky she's even here.

"Hey I'm sorry, why did you come here?" I ask.

"Your not the only one that gets beat." She whispers

"What?" I ask

She looks at me. She's gonna cry in any minute.

"Beatrice why are you gonna cry?" I ask

"Because I'm leaving." She says with tears rolling down her cheeks

"Why?" I ask.

"Like I said, your not the only one that gets beat." She says

Oh no. Not Beatrice. She's so delicate.

"Oh bea." I say

I can't think of anymore to say so I just hug her. If Marcus was here, I would be beaten to death, literally.

"I'm running away Tobias." "I'll never see you again." She sobs into my shirt

"Beatrice, everything is going to be okay." I say

"How?" She cries

"It's easy, just go." I say

"But what about you?" She asks

"I will be fine." I say

"No you won't. Don't lie to me Tobias." She says

"I'll be fine." "You need to go. I don't want to make this harder than it has to be." I say

She nods. "Good luck Tobias."

And like that she's gone.
