Hi, welcome back. 👀

Just so you know, if everything goes as planned, this would be the 12th out of 14 chapters 😬

Ehem... enjoy. I guess

Jordan got in the backseat, closed the door behind him, and turned around to wrap his ex-girlfriend in his arms. Maybe he wasn't in a relationship with her anymore, but that didn't stop those tears from affecting him, activating his natural protectiveness.

"Hey... it's gonna be okay" he kept mumbling, while patiently patting her back. All he wanted was to comfort her.

His ex-mother-in-law calling him earlier had thrown him off, but now, his confusion had gone to second term, especially since he had never seen Jade that bad, not even during the time their romance lasted.

Meanwhile, the girl was inconsolable. She didn't even complain when he met with his ex-partner, when he took her to his car, neither bothered on asking him what was he doing there. Truth is, she appreciated to have a shoulder to lean on, but at that moment to show gratitude wasn't at the top of her priority list.

"You wanna talk about it?" he offered her, softly.

Jade shook her head, reluctantly. She might feel dizzy, but her thoughts weren't scrambled enough as to spill the latest details of her new affair to her ex. However, she knew she couldn't just continue mourning like that without giving an explanation.

Fighting the funny feeling in the pit of her stomach, she took a deep breath.

"Jordan... you were right. I had feelings for Perrie while I was still dating you" she said. Probably not a relevant statement at that moment. Nevertheless, she wanted to come clean. "But... I never should have done anything about it" she lamented. "Nor have gotten my hopes up, thinking that anything with Perrie could have worked out."

Even when she was basically admitting he was right all along, the revelation didn't give Jordan the satisfaction he could've expected. The grief in her words upset him as well.

"No, don't say that..."

"I don't know what was I thinking" Jade sighed, sourly. "I'm pathetic..."

"Hey, enough. No need to be this mean to yourself" he told her. His tone always gentle. "As long as I'm here, I won't allow it. And I'm not in a rush to go anywhere, so..."

To print certainty to his words, he accompanied them with a loving kiss on her hair. Gesture with which he had become familiar during their relationship, yet Jade found rather odd.

"Uhh..." she stuttered, parting from his embrace to face him. "Jordan... please, don't confuse yourself" she spoke, as coming back to reality. "This doesn't mean I want us to go back together..."

"No, no. I know" he reassured her. "But... Norma told me about the possibility of you two staying over, so I don't mind staying by your side if you need me."

Jade thanked his gesture with a little smile.

"It's not really necessary..."

"Right. I get it" he nodded. "So... that means you're ready to explain your mum we're not together anymore, right?" he taunted, to Jade's surprise. "Yeah... from the way she asked me for a ride earlier, I assumed she doesn't know yet" he giggled. "Or... are you making up an excuse to explain what other commitment your boyfriend had to attend to in the middle of the night? Cuz, whatever the case, I'd like to be warned this time, if you don't mind."

Despite of his mocking tone, the brunette had to admit he was right. She pondered for a minute and realized that she probably didn't get the guts to deal with another drama. Not that same night.
