chapter 4- the interviews

Two days later:

"Up and Adems kids its a big big day" I got up at the voice, its just ebony though. "Morning" I hear from a feminine voice, I turn around and see maysilee already dressed for training, its our last day so we do our private assessments and the interviews with ceaser. "Morning" I say groggily "you really do wake up early dont ya" I add and she smirks with a nod.

Rummage opens the door "why are you in haymich room?" He looks at maysilee with daggers. "Couldn't sleep so he let me sleep here" she replies "whatever its probably your last day alive so I don't care" he mutters. "Get ready" he spits and leaves.

"Alright maysilee ill meet you outside i gotta get changed" I say and she nods, then walks out. I get changed into the black training outfit, but the pach with the number 12 on it it is falling off. When I walk through to the kitchen I sit down next to aria because she looks nervous "kid you will be fine im sure you will get a good score" I say to her. "What if I don't though, bad score means bad sponsors no ones gonna sponsor me!" She says in a terrified tone.

"Child calm down, you got allys, the girl from 11 you befriended is a big strong girl i say her with that spear, she's a god" maysilee joins in on my comforting aria. The young girl forced a smile and we all eat in silence before we are taken down to the training center, we are packed into a room and sat in district and gender order.

After 1 and a half hours everyone is gone but me, maysilee, aria and axel. "Aria breckon, district 12" the announcer says, I'm terrified for her. Just as she stands up i look up at her "good luck kid, do your best" I tell her she looks back at me, and to my surprise throws her arms around me.

"Alright kid, do good" I say and she walks of. Then axel goes in 10 minutes and its only me and maysilee left. After 10 minutes a voice speaks "maysilee donner, district 12" she takes a deep breath and stands up "good luck" I say and she nods "you to, your last" she says and I nod.

The silence is weird, this room was once filled with 48 tributes and now only me. I sit their for the longest 10 minutes of my life before I'm called, "Haymich Abernethy, district 12" I stand up, sigh and walk to the training room.

I go around like I have been for the last 2 days, they don't give two shifts they are probably bored out of their minds. I do my thing and then wait for them to dismiss me "Alright thanks Mr Abernethy you can go" the head game maker says and I take off. We get taken back up to our floor and me and the other tributes get changed.

We sit down on the couch to wait for our scores. The careers get between 9-10 the rest of the tributes average from 4-8. "Axel bearna from 12, with a score of 5" ceaser says, its not a great score but he's 13 and terrified so its OK. "Aria breckon, with a score of 6" wow, I'm impressed. "See kid you did better than alot of people" I say then it speaks again. "Haymich Abernethy" my attention goes to the TV "with a score of" my heart pounds "8" it finished.

"Wow kid im impressed" rummage says "shut up I wanna hear my score" maysilee says "maysilee donner with a score of 8" same as me "nice" I say. Rummage takes me and axel off to get ready and ebony takes maysilee and aria.

After an hour of training we get given outfits, mine is a dark grey suit with a light grey top and black tie. They mess up my hair and make it into a weird style, capital shit. Axel is in a plain black suit, the girls come out. Aria is in a gorgeous little blue dress with a flowey skirt and little black flats. My heart sinks when I see maysilee in a beautiful purple dress that hugs her body and makes her gorgeous curves stick out. She wears black heals to go with her dress and her hair is curled into loose wavey curls.

"OK kids, you all ready? Remember to be funny, be charming, be cocky, be sweet whatever will make you liked by the capital" rummage says and I nod, yet again I see aria terrified. "Aria you will be fine, you should go for the sweet act, also be confident, talk about how fast you are, talk about how you can climb" I say to her and she gives me a smile. "Got it boss" she says and fixes her hair.
