out of time { the hunger games }

chapter 3- the training centre

Haymich's pov:

I wake up to not ebony this time but maysilee knocking at my door. "Get up your tge last one" she says "coming give me 10 minutes maysilee" I say and I hear her walk away. I have a shower and then get changed into what I think is my training outfit layed on a table in my room.

I walk out into the living room and see tge other tributes in the same outfit as me. "Nice of you to wake up from your coma haymich" ebony says and I smirk. "Wish I was in a coma" I mumble and I think only maysilee hears it because she smirks at me. I sit down in the empty space next to maysilee and the other male tribute, witch I remembered his name is axel, poor kid, probably terrified.

I can see tge little girl opposite me looks terrified, I think her names aria.  I would be to if I was 13 and in an arena in a week, poor girl. "Aria you need to eat something today is a long day you can't go on an empty stomach" rummage says. "I can't im to nervous" she says back to him "kid don't worry, the training centre is nothing to worry about no ones going to go near you" I say to her. she reminds me of my brother; short, black curly hair, loaded with freakals and darkish hazel skin.

"OK I guess your right" she says and I give her a smile. She starts to eat and I do aswell, "so when we go to this training centre, you 4 should try everything the have, all the weapon and tge survival skill stuff" rummage says "OK" I hear from aria and axel.

We finish eating and get ready to go to  the center. We are the last district down thare so the other tributes are already training. I catch glimps of aria looking at one of the guys from 1 at the swords, poor girl is scared out of her mind. "Don't worry kid you are gonna be fine" I say to her and she looks up at me, my tall build towering over her by at least a foot. "Thanks haymich" she says and takes a deep breath before walking over to the fire starting station.

I go and pick up a knife, its black with a silver blade and a tip that could cut someone's throat out. I go to a few dummies and practice up close combat, if these were real people i would probably be screwed but I am quick.

I then move onto the swords, I'm ok but they are heavy so I can't swing them around like the boys from 1 and 2. I leave the swords and go to the spears and meet with aria. "You ok kid?" I say as I see a small cut on her arm "yea I tried to shoot an arrow and missed and cut my arm". "OK kid" I say and throw a spear, my aim is awful but the Streath in my arms balanced it out a bit.

I stay thare for an hour or so and then go to the bow and arrows, I find out I can't shoot for shit so go to the survival stuff. I go to the edible berries and poisonis stuff. I learn for a minute and get the hang of it fast.

I head over to the monkey bar type things and watch a few kids fall, axel was not one of those kids he was quite the climber. I don't fall whrn i have my turn but I wasn't great.

It had been a few hours and I hadn't spoke to anyone. I could see aira made a little freind in the one of the girl from 11, the careers were all training together -obviously- and axel, 1 of tge boys from 10, and one of tge girls from 8. Whats really weird is i haven't seen maysilee all day, its like she disappeared. But when rummage and ebony came to get us she came out of no whare.

"Whare did you go I didn't see you all day?" I ask her while we are walking back to go to our floor. "I didn't wanna be seen" she says and the lift door opens. I walk into my room and change into more comfortable clothes.

I sit in my room for an hour or so before I hear a faint knock at the my door. "Come in" I say and a girl comes in, her blonde hair almost glows in the light. "Maysilee hey" I say "I can't stand another second with ebony and rummage" she says. "What happened?" I ask confused  "ebony put to much coal in tge fire and burn it out and then threw the perfectly good coal away so she would light another one" she says looking me straight in the eyes. I scoff "I hate this place" I mutter.

Maysilee must have some pretty sharp hearing because she nods "yea same" she says i have made up my mind that if I don't win i want maysilee to win. "You got really good hearing, you hear me every time I mutter something" I say, she gives me a smile "its like so close to being a superpower" she laughs.

We talk for an hour or so "you should go get some sleep" I say and she shakes her head. I raise an eyebrow "I don't wanna be alone in that stuffy capital room" she says "OK then stay here with me" I say. "Thank you haymich" she says and gives me a smile.

I shuffle up a bit so she has more space, whenever I talk to her I just get this really weird feeling, I don't know its like their are moths flying around in my stomach. Her smile makes me smile, when I talk to her its like I have been best freinds with me for years. I wish thare could be 2 victors, that way  me and her could win together.

She lays down and falls asleep next to me, I just sit their and look at her -i know it sounds creepy but its not-. Anyone that sees her would have to admit she's gorgeous; shiny blonde hair that shimmers in the light, peirceing blue eyes that have specs of green and yellow in them. Shes far to pretty for me, my dark grey eyes and brown curly hair. I fall asleep next to her quickly, unlike the other nights I spent in this shitty city.
