I gave my mother another hug as I utter my good byes. Jack is still giving me crap but wished me good luck.
I told them I'll bring Tatum soon to meet them, I've been preoccupied with what I'm supposed to do tonight.
I reserved us a table in a restaurant for tonight. I'll be taking her to the fair and as much as I hate heights I'll ask her to ride the ferris wheel and once where settled on top, I'll kiss her and I will ask her to marry me.
I prepared for this shit. Reciting my lines in my head over and over again. Jack was no help. He was just stressing me out.
I didn't know I was thinking so much when I passed by the familiar building.
Goddammit I passed our apartment complex!
I took the U-Turn and then parked the car in the basement parking.
My heart is racing.
I'm going to apologize first then ask her our to dinner and then I will take her to the fair and then I'll ask her to marry me.
What if she says no?
No! Stop over thinking, shit!
Don't screw it up, Luke!
You've caused her more damage than a bulldozer could squash a car.
I was hesitant to push the elevator button but I did anyway.
When I got up to our floor I felt nervousness and nausea but I didn't care.
I noticed that the front door was open.
It was weird though. I know we're the only ones who lives in this floor at the moment but that doesn't mean Tatum will leave the door open whenever she feels like to.
There's something not right.
I hurried to get inside. The place looked spotless and clean, nothing's missing, its quiet as well.
"Tatum?" I called out.
No one answered.
I opened the bathroom door she wasn't there.
"Babe?" I exclaimed climbing up the stairs.
The bed wasn't made and the bedroom's bathroom is closed.
I knock.
"Baby? You in here?" There was no answer.
I turned the knob open for it was unlock. No one is here.
I'm confused. I dialed Tatum's number.
I help my phone on my ear, I closed the door and stood by the broken vanity mirror.
Remind me to buy her a new one, I'm fucking stupid for breaking it. I looked at my hand and glared at the almost healing flesh from the impulsive act I've regretted that I ever did.
She looked so scared at me. I hate it. I shook my head trying to clear the picture out of my head.
"The number you have dialed doesn't exist. Please try-" I ended the call.
Doesn't exist? What does that supposed to mean?
My heart is trying to jump out of my chest and I couldn't help but worry.
I suddenly noticed something on the floor.
It was Tatum's phone and it was cracked into pieces like it was harshly thrown on the floor and been stepped on over and over.
My throat went dry.
Something's not right.
I ran my way back to the elevator and into the ground floor, where the girl who asked me to sign the lease papers the first time we arrived here was standing behind the front desk.
