Chapter one - The Reaping
Its quite ,too quiet , i can hear the girl next to me breathing, looking at her i think shes called Merissa. Not that I'm concentrating on her , all i care about is finding my brothers and sisters.There are six of us in all Dahlia and Alyssa are twins at 5 , oli's 7 , emil's 9 and Curtis is just 11 one year younger than me. Still scanning the crowd lookng for them. There over by the walls of the justice building is my family, huddled in a group like the small flocks of birds that live in the orchards.
I'm rue by the way twelve years old and even though both my parents are around they work all day ,so are hardly ever around . This is common in district eleven. So i took charge of the family when i was seven and its been that way ever since.
I stare at the ball full of the girls names from our district , my name will be in there three times ,I only just got put in because i turned twelve four months ago but as soon as i did ,i took out tesserae for half of my family. Of course this alone wouldn't feed us so i have been scavenging in the orchards and meadows since the twins where born. There is the risk of being shot if your found doing this ,but i wont be found.
Before I write any more I have to write and say that i do not own the hunger games and suzzanne colins the authour holds all right to them
i am just writting an alternative story to her amazing work . Totally inspired by her
