Almost one whole year had passed, and Elliot would be exactly one year old in two weeks. However, today held something special, something that would bring happiness to his life, and Daisy's. A small egg sat between them, slightly shaking every few seconds.

"Isn't it exciting Elliot?" Daisy asked him. "You're going to have a little sister!"

Elliot nodded, definitely feeling excited to have a little sister. The egg rustled slightly more aggressively for one moment, and as it did, it started to crack. Right at the top, a small crack formed at the top of the shell. Elliot put his hands over his beak, waiting for the next little crick or crack, and soon it came. The egg started cracking in a line down the center that split to the sides, the hatching was beginning! Then finally, after a few more little cracks, it happened. Pieces of the shell broke off and fell, revealing a baby girl lying in their remains. She cooed upon seeing her mother and brother. Elliot would have said something, but he didn't know how to talk. So instead, he smiled at her, and she smiled back, giggling. Daisy reached in and picked her up from the shell remains, and wrapped her in a swaddling cloth.

"Well hello, little Delilah," she said.

So that was his sister's name, Delilah. Elliot liked that. She cooed and smiled at Daisy, who looked like she was on the verge of joyful tears.

A few days later, Elliot woke one day and felt something. Some new instinct, it felt odd and foreign, but he felt like he needed to act on it. He grabbed the rails of his crib and pulled himself up, trying to use his little legs for support. He pulled himself to full height, and stood! However, his small legs almost felt weak, so he kept his hands on the railing. Then Daisy walked into his bedroom, and immediately looked rather shocked to see Elliot standing.

"Elliot, did — did you do that all by yourself?" she stuttered.

Elliot nodded. Daisy thought for a moment, then grinned. "Then maybe it's time you learn to walk," she said joyfully.

Elliot looked a little nervous, but also excited. Daisy reached in and picked him up out of the crib, and carried him out to the living room. Delilah was playing around a bit, then she saw Daisy and Elliot coming. She looked rather happy to see Elliot. Daisy sat him down on one side of the rug in the middle of the floor, next to a small chair, and sat on the other side across from him. Elliot felt that instinct again, then he put his hands on the chair, and pulled himself to stand up. Delilah looked at this in wonder as Elliot tried to stand and let go of the chair. Daisy gasped slightly; she was surprised she didn't need to tell him to stand. She looked at Elliot with an encouraging smile.

"Come on Elliot," she said warmly, opening her arms. "Come to Mommy."

Elliot slowly moved his foot forward to do so, and found himself putting some of his weight on it. He thought this felt strange, but he was determined not to fall. He slowly moved his other foot forward as he did with the last. He slowly waddled toward his mother, trying his hardest not to fall. Daisy's eyes sparkled with joyful tears once more.

"You're taking your first steps!" she said joyfully as Elliot got closer.

Soon he was right in front of his mother, and almost fell into her lap, but not before she gently pulled him into a hug.

"You did it!" she said as she did. "I'm so proud of you."

Elliot hugged his mother back, and muttered, "Mommy."

Daisy's eyes widened.

"Mommy," Elliot repeated, his beak in a huge grin.

Daisy actually started crying, smiling upon hearing Elliot say his first words. She let go of him, and he stood up. He turned to Delilah, who smiled.

"De-e...Deela...Delilah," Elliot said.

Delilah smiled excitedly and giggled, Daisy looked as proud as she felt, and Elliot felt proud of himself. So proud in fact, that one of his legs started to bend back and forth, his heel repeatedly patting the floor as it did. It maintained a beat, and Elliot suddenly noticed. He started to move even more, his feet started to slide in arcs around his sides, pulling him a step back when they stopped, and his arms were opposite bending as he started to move to the beat. Daisy looked very surprised, but also impressed. Delilah giggled adorably and clapped as her brother moved. Soon, Elliot stopped, his beak in a huge grin once more.

"Elliot," Daisy gasped. "That was amazing! You were dancing!"

"Dan...dancing," Elliot slowly repeated.

"Yeah," Daisy continued. "Dancing is when people move with music, normally with a sequence of steps, just like you did!"

Elliot paused. He had no idea what dancing was before now, but somehow he hadn't struggled with it. He thought it was fun!

"Dancing — is — fun," he said slowly, a grin spreading across his beak.

He looked down at his feet, and his toe started tapping. He looked back up, and both of his feet were moving. He started dancing again, moving around to the beat he created tapping his heel, and Delilah clapped and giggled once more, Daisy feeling very proud.
