Elliot snuck out of the beach house Daisy had rented, and down to the beach with a rope, a grappling hook tied at its end. He swam over to the rock on which Valta was sleeping, and gently tapped her shoulder. Her eyes blinked open, she saw Elliot, and was rather surprised.

"Elliot?" she murmured.

"Valta, listen," Elliot started. "I don't want you to be even more distant from your family than you already are, so I'm gonna get you over this wall before the night ends!"

"But what if someone sees us? What if your mom and sister see you're gone?" Valta worried. "Won't they come looking for you? That could mess up this whole thing!"

"I'm willing to take those risks," Elliot said bravely. "No one deserves to be separated from their family like this."

Valta's face changed from mild worry to a thankful smile, then she took Elliot's hand in both of hers, and looked him meaningfully in the eyes.

"Thank you Elliot," she said. "For everything."

Elliot blushed a bit. "You're welcome."

With that, he jumped onto the rock, twirled the rope, and threw the hook as high as he could. It flew up to the top of the wall and seemed to latch into its edge. Elliot pulled at the rope to make sure it would hold, and it didn't budge.

"Alright," he said. "Let's do this!"

He hopped off the rock, planning to land his feet on the wall and get in a position for Valta to get on his shoulders. However, his feet missed the wall and instead he slammed face-first into it, causing him to let go of the rope and fall into the water. He reemerged, rubbing his forehead.

"I'm okay," he said hastily.

Elliot shook his head and came back to his senses. Unfortunately, that brought him to see, behind Valta, two scary dorsal fins.

"Uh..."

"What?" said Valta.

She turned around nervously to the pointy fins, and before the kids knew what was happening, a giant jawed face with a pointy nose lunged at Valta, who quickly dodged.

"Aah! Sharks!" the kids shouted in unison.

Both sharks revealed their scary faces, their huge mouths filled with tens of thousands of razor sharp teeth. The same one that lunged at Valta did so again, but this time, she swatted it away with her tail. However, the other punched her forward in her back rather hard with its nose, and she hit the rock.

"Valta!" Elliot cried.

He turned back to the sharks and his face grew red. He felt angry, really angry, at the sharks for hurting her. His shoulders tensed and his fists clenched, the angry adrenaline in him boiling like a tea kettle.

"STAY AWAY FROM HER YOU BIG PALOOKAS!" he screamed.

He ran at the sharks and repeatedly beat them, circling around them and hitting every spot on them he could. After one last blow, the second shark retreated back to the sea, flinging Elliot off it. He splashed back into the water, then reemerged looking around.

"Where'd he go?" he said, sounding slightly scared.

Suddenly, both sharks emerged from the water right in front of him. They swam toward him, and he backed away into the wall out of fear. He had nowhere to go, he was terrified, then —

"You stay away from him!" Valta shouted, emerging from the water in front of Elliot and slapping the sharks hard with her tail.

After that, the sharks seemed like they didn't want another beating from either of them, so they retreated. Valta turned back to Elliot, who was breathing heavily.
