Hello! Long time no update!
(Sorry about that, there's been exams and stuff. Yay.)
Part of this chapter was inspired by "Falling" by Florence and the Machine.
Thank you for votes/comments!
More emotionalness in this part *sniffs*
Enjoy,
Kori.

Milla and Jax bolt down the hallway, away from Xavier and the guards. They really do think they are done for. What if they are caught? What if the guards get to Tiger and Astrid?
"We've got to find Astrid and Tiger and tell them that we need to get out of here!" Breathes Milla while running, panting for breath.
Astrid and Tiger are a little way down the corridor nearer the stairs.

"Astrid, Tiger, we need to get away from them!" Shouts Jax as he nears them.

All four of them cascade down flights of stairs and hurry down corridors. They open several inconspicuous looking doors that all turn out to be either store cupboards or leading down more corridors. They run until they eventually hit a dead end.
"Oh no," croaks Astrid, her throat still sore from crying.
They are all slightly beginning to lose hope.

Then they see a door, camouflaged against the white wall. Jax dives for the tiny handle and they all rush through it.
They find themselves on a balcony, squinting in the sunlight and shielding their eyes. It's been a while since they have all been this high above ground. Usually they are under it.

Closing the balcony door behind them, Milla catches her breath. "That was close!" She sighs with exasperation.
"Yeah but the only way is, um..."
Says Tiger, looking down over the edge, then stepping away from it.
They are on the seventh floor.
Down.
The railing is quite low and if someone was to lose their balance then they would likely fall.

"Oh right. There isn't exactly a way out," says Milla quietly.
They are all realising the slight problem.

They begin to think of a way out, but soon realise it is pointless. They hear loud marching footsteps sounding from the door.

The next few moments happen in a blur. The door opens. Fear increases. Xavier and the guards come out onto the balcony. Tiger grips Astrid's hand. Jax clutches onto Milla. Astrid shuts her eyes tightly.

Suddenly she is overcome with agonising pain flooding through her body from her head. But she soon stops feeling it and starts to fall backwards. Falling down seven floors, and falling asleep.
She is losing her senses but I can see her dreams. More dreams. Vivid dreams.

Milla takes the gun out of her pocket. Jax takes off his silver necklace and removes the bullet charm on it. He loads the gun.
She shoots.
The bullet causes an explosion upon impact. Xavier and the guards are dead. I stop dreaming.

Astrid is properly asleep now but is still falling. Her sleep is peaceful and undisturbed. Lights and colours are flying around her as she falls.

Who knew falling could be so peaceful?
Just silently moving through the dark. Down and down.
If only the impact of hitting the ground wasn't going to be so painful.

Images of her memories flash around her as she falls and I watch. Memories of her real family before she forgot them. Memories of her childhood with Tiger and of being adopted. Memories of her brother.

Then...

...impact.
