A soldier stood outside the doors to the packed arena, it was his first day on an actual post but he had been hoping to listen to the rally today, just because he he found them so interesting. He leant on his pike, whistling a small tune to himself to keep from getting bored. While in pursuit of that same goal, he looked around at his surroundings for the first time. Next to him was a body on a spike, stood outside the arena doors as a warning. The body had been preserved with a clear salve, the particular ingredients and recipe of he didn't know the specifics. It was the body of a young girl, no older than 14 with no real stand out features, if he were to pass her in the streets he knew hers wouldn't be the sort of face he would remember. Under the body, nailed to the pole was a spike with a sign. It read:

𝙲𝚊𝚕𝚢𝚙𝚜𝚘
𝚏𝚒𝚛𝚝 𝚒𝚗𝚍𝚒𝚟𝚒𝚍𝚞𝚊𝚕
𝚝𝚘 𝚍𝚒𝚎 𝚏𝚘𝚛
𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝙿𝚞𝚛𝚐𝚎

He knew in that instant, if these people were capable of murdering, they were capable of doing it again or worse. He didn't know what the purge was exactly, he had heard whispers here and there but the soldier decided that soon he would look into it further but for now he had to be careful. These weren't the type of people to mess with.
