A secret and a moment

Sam's pov

I'm so glad Barbara is okay. I will hurt penguin. He has taken to much from me. He will not take my best friend.

"mom I'm home," I yelled walking into the house.

"Hey sweetie, how was the field trip," mom asked.

"Barbara is in the hospital again," I said opening the fridge.

"Oh no what happened."

"She tore her stitches. She will be fine."

I grabbed a soda and sat at the kitchen table. Mom came walking in holding a new necklace.

"Mother, when did you get that," I asked.

"Last night," she replied cleaning it.

"The same time I was being help captive," I asked.

"Yea but you were fine."

I took the necklace out of her hands and placed it on the table.

"Sam," she exclaimed.

"Why didn't you get me one," I asked.

I looked closer at the necklace. It was the most beautiful thing I have ever see. It was all diamonds. Mother always had an eye for diamonds and she always gets what she wants.

"you don't like diamonds," mom stated.

"Can you just make me food," I begged.

Mom walked I to the kitchen and made me some Mac and cheese. I don't mind that mom didn't get me something I just wish she would bring me with her.

"why can't I ever go with you," I asked.

"Because it's to dangerous and your not ready," she said.

"Please you saw what I did to penguin," I told her.

"no not yet," she said firmly.

I got up and stormed to my room. She is so unfair. She treats me like a little girl. She treats me like I'm her daughter. She is not my mother.

Barbara's pov.

I can't sleep. Every timeI close my eyes I see Matthew. I watch him die. I can't do that.

"hey," the nurse said coming into my room.

"Hi," I said.

"There is someone here for you," she said.

"But visiting hours are over."

"Yes but he said he was family and I figured you don't want to be alone," she said.

I was very confused. Sam was at home and so was dick. Who on earth would want to see me. I fixed my hair and sat up. It could be uncle Gordon. The nurse opened the door and dick was standing there with a backpack and some roses. The nurse closed the door behind dick and walked away.

"what are you doing here," I asked.

"I have a feeling that something was going to happen, so I came over here," he said.

"It's 12 in the morning," I stated.

"I know I thought you would be away so I came here bearing gifts," he said placing the backpack on the bed.

He pulled out a box of chocolate and the fault in our stars movie.

"You didn't have to do any of this," I told him.

"I know but I thought I could take care of my girlfriend," he said.

He called me is girlfriend. Now I'm just waiting for Sam to pop up somewhere are ruin the moment. I grabbed my computer and handed it to dick.

"Thank you for coming," I told him.

"I couldn't sleep," he said casually.

I pressed play and the movie started. I moved over on the bed so he could sit with me. I placed my head on his shoulders and he wrapped his arms around me.

"Worlds greatest boyfriend," I whisperer under my breath.

Dick's pov

"Worlds greatest boyfriend," I heard he say under her breath.

I kissed her head and watched the movie with her.

~after movie~

"I hate this movie so much," Barbara said crying.

"Here," I said grabbing tissues from the table next to the bed.

"How are you not crying," she asked me.

"Cause I'm a guy. I don't cry during movies," I told her acting all macho.

"Shut up," she said slapping my shoulder.

We stayed up until 3am talking. We fell asleep in my hospital bed. His arms wrapped around me. Just being here makes me feel safe.
