Scarlet
I giggle for what seemed to be the fifth time, leaving Rafael to stare at me concerned. Maybe I've had one glass too many of that red wine, my head feels quite light, and every little thing is sending me into a fit of giggles. Thankfully, Rafael and I had already had dinner, which surprised me. Where'd he get the money to make reservations at this fancy place? As far as I know, this place is really expensive, and let's not talk about the bill.
"Alright, I think it's time I get you home." Rafael chuckles, running a hand through his dark hair, getting up I nod, already halfway to the door.
The rush of cool air outside did happen to sober me up a bit, which I was thankful for, now I could stop making a fool of myself. I check the time on my phone, seeing that it's only after ten I let out a sigh, I wouldn't have been comfortable if it was later, but I guess it's fine.
On the way back to my house, the two of us try to make conversation, not knowing if I'll see him again. "Admit it." I say, a bright smile on my face as Rafael looks down at me, "Admit what?"
"That this was a date. That you were too nervous to ask, so you found a more casual way to do it." I say, raising an eyebrow, as we near the park, he chuckles, "Wow okay." he takes a breathe, shoving his hands into the pockets of his jeans, "Fine, yes this was a date, and no I wasn't nervous."
He says this quite jittery, I'm afraid that my assumptions may have actually made him nervous, which is a weird image for him, a guy with his personality being nervous. So his nervous demeanor was confusing, "You okay?" I ask, he nods though, stopping me with a gentle grip on my elbow. Looking at the ground, dark hair shielding his eyes while I try to ignore the warmth of his hand. "I need to tell you something Scarlet." I nod, letting the seriousness in tone sink in. Walking ahead he pulls me behind him, sitting me down on the nearest park bench. He didn't bother sitting, rather to stand, repeatedly pulling his hands from his pockets. "I'm going to tell you something. And I'm telling you this because I trust you."
"Okay..." I say unsurely, bracing myself for whatever he had to say. "I don't expect you to sit here when I'm done....I'm a werewolf."
I blink up at at him, I couldn't help but snort at the idea, a werewolf? why not just say 'I'm mentally challenged'? I may be a little knackered but I'm not foolish, I'm not going to take this seriously. I just start to laugh, and I mean a belly hurting laugh. Is he serious?!
"Are you sure you're okay? You really expect me to believe this?" He looks somewhat hurt at my words, and I immediately feel bad. There was a serious glint in his eyes, telling me that he was absolutely serious. I feel my smile slip from my lips, as his eyes darkens, the blue of his irises looking almost black. He smiles gently, his canine teeth looking dog like. "I'm not going to hurt you, just stay calm." How can he say that? Right now my heart and my rib cage is having a fight. "So you're not crazy. You were serious."
"No I'm not crazy. And there's one other thing you must know as well. You're my mate, am I bound to you as you are to me."
My eyes widen, that clears a few things, like one, appearing out of no where. I thought that he was just really skilled in being quiet and unnoticed. Slowly getting up, in my shock, I walk past him, thankful that he didn't bother to follow me, I needed air to breathe, because right now it felt as if my lungs were caving in and my chest was about to implode.
I drag myself to my house, unlocking the door to the dark house, aunt Raven probably fast asleep. So as quietly as I could, I make my way to my room, not bothering to change as I go straight to my computer. Time to do some research, on...what ever is going on here.
So far, my research says, that a werewolf's mate is their life partner, in the animal sense, because as far as I know these things are supposed to be fictional. But from what I saw tonight, I can't help but believe it.Rafael
Well, I know now, that I should listen to my sub conscious more often. She wasn't ready for that, hell I wasn't ready to tell her but she had to know sooner or later, but I suppose the latter would've been the best option. As I argue with myself I walk back home, feeling rather stupid, and a little bit disappointed; with no right to be. As I said, I didn't expect her to sit there when I was done. No matter.
---Sitting down, I pull my sneakers off, stopping briefly to look up as Lizzie knocks on the open door. "Hey.." she smiles gently, sensing my discomfort, I nod at her, turning back to pull off my other shoe, sliding them under my bed. "So.. how'd it go?" she asks carefully, fiddling with her fingers, before closing the door behind her. "Good, at the start. Until I opened my mouth and decided to spill my little secret." I sigh, lacing my fingers together, leaning forward to rest my elbows on my knees. "Don't let it trouble you, she's just startled and confused. I would be." she sits on the bed, causing it to dip under her weight, she places a comforting hand on my shoulder, "Give her time and she'll come around, you should probably talk to her."
"Later, she won't, not right now anyway."
Feeling the need to change the topic, I ask her about Renee, she says that she's finally warmed up to her, but the kid still hardly eats. Honestly I can't begin to imagine what she's going through, losing her parent as such an early age, but she'll be fine with Elizabeth.
"Alright. It's late, get some rest." with a fleeting kiss to my forehead, she leaves, closing the door with a click. Taking a breath, I flop back onto my bed, opting to stare at the white paint of my ceiling.
After twenty minutes of doing so, and of course wallowing in my self pity, and hating myself at the current time, I head downstairs to the kitchen. Only to find a girl sitting in on of the chairs, swinging her feet drinking a glass of water. The unfamiliarity about her makes me stop short, she turns swiftly, her eyes startled. "I'm not going to kill you for drinking water if that's what you're thinking," I say slowly, watching as she visibly relax, smiling slightly, "Sorry, I'm a bit jumpy." she explains, putting the clear glass down, "Luckily I'm nothing like my cousin, I won't attack you without thinking about asking a simple question." I chuckle, making my way to the cabinets to grab a glass. "The Alpha is your cousin?"
"Regrettably,"
As I pour the cold water into the glass, Mikhail's brown hair comes into view, smiling fondly at the short girl. "So you steal my tee and sneak out of the room." He says, green eyes holding a mischievous glint, one which I haven't seen since we were younger. "Sorry, I was thirsty, and I don't exactly have pajamas." she gestures to the long sleeved blue tee she stole, 'borrowed' in her terms. I look between the two of them, clearly they knew each other, well enough to be in the same bedroom.
"Oh.. glad to see you back Rafael, seeing as you stormed out. I still have you on a ban you know." I shrug, smiling at Mikhail, placing my glass on the counter, "Had things to do."
"I don't blame you. And I see you've met Tori here."
I nod, chuckling at them, "This little vixen here is my mate. Handful of trouble she is." Tori in turn rolls her eyes, "It was nice meeting you." I nod again, she leaves with a small wave, leaving Mikhail to smile at me. We ended up sitting down, talking things over, "So, I suppose that congratulations are in order yes?" I ask, he smiles, looking down at his cup of coffee. "Ah yes, but to you as well." he winks at me, I already catching on to what he was referring to. How is it that everyone, no matter if I speak of it or not, always ends up knowing my business.
After our talk, I escape to my room, opting to take a shower and actually get some rest, and perhaps clear my head over sleep.________
