A day passed after you were visited by Arthur and Francis, but a question plagued your mind. Why did they need to know where Alfred was? Had he gone...missing? You weren't fond of the idea that he went missing, but maybe that man they were looking for wasn't Alfred. What if he had a twin that no one knew about? What if the man they were searching for was a clone of some sort and they were hunting him down? Or maybe Alfred was the clone!
Thinking of so many outcomes and so many possibilities started to confuse you, but you couldn't stop them. You were anxious to know, and you needed answers. Maybe Alfred was just some other homeless guy you just so happened to meet by chance. Maybe he wasn't harmless and was just being hunted down for loitering in places he shouldn't have been. But that didn't explain why four policemen had to come inside the building to arrest one man.
You sighed heavily as the thoughts continued to ravage your mind. You could feel the anxiety build up inside you, ready to burst like a ticking time bomb. You sighed again; all you could really do was sigh since you weren't getting out of this hospital bed any time soon. Then your mind started drifting off to other things. Why hadn't your family visited you? Didn't they know you fractured a bone in your spine? Maybe they just didn't want to go through the hassle of buying flowers for you. Or maybe--
A knock came from the door as it snapped you out of your thoughts. You called for whoever to come in, and you were soon greeted by a man in a green hoodie. His hood was up, hiding his face, so you couldn't see who had come to visit you. Soon, after looking at the jacket he was wearing for seconds, you felt a ting of familiarity in your heart.
"M-may I help you...?" You questioned the stranger, your voice wavering slightly from sadness. Tears started to sting your eyes again. Oh why the tears?! You bit the inside of your cheek, trying to choke back the tears before they spilled. But it seemed that your sadness was obvious because the stranger perked his head up to stare into your (e/c) eyes.
"Hey... Don't cry," He frowned and the sound of his voice only made you want to cry even more. It was his voice, but was it really who you hoped it was?
You shook your head. "I'm n-not crying!" You barked, receiving a chuckle from the other.
"I've never seen this stubborn side of you," he chuckled again.
At that moment, another knock came from the door. You quietly called for whoever to come in as your visitor sat in a chair to the side of your bed. A nurse came in with an all too familiar tray that held your lunch on it. The smell of coffee found its way to your nose and you cracked a smile. The nurse set the tray in front of you and quickly left, shooting a glance towards your visitor before leaving.
You looked down at your food with wide eyes. You were having two burgers slightly smaller than regular ones, a side of melon, and a cup of refillable coffee to go with it. You looked at the stranger from the corners of your eyes before looking back down at your lunch. Was this some kind of magic trick?
"Hey, you gonna eat or what?" Your still hooded visitor piped up. You were so tempted to shake your head; it had been so long since you've eaten or touched a burger. But instead of refusing, you nodded your head slightly before picking one of them up.
You held it up to your mouth and took a small bite of it. You chewed slowly as you put the burger down to look at your company. The nurse from earlier sneaked in undetected and left an extra mug for the coffee, thinking the hooded man would've liked some. When you finally noticed that she had left one, you made a mental note to thank her later. So, you picked up the mug that rested on the table a previous day's lunch once sat.
"Would you like some coffee?" You asked politely, looking into the man's ocean blue eyes, and he nodded in return. You poured the dark substance three-fourths of the way of the mug and handed it to him.
"Thanks," he smiled as he poured creamer and sugar into it. You nodded and continued to eat your lunch, the memories that flooded you now at the back of your mind.
You cleared your throat once halfway through your burger and looked to your visitor again. You knew you weren't going to be able to finish the other burger, so why not give it to him? Another memory crashed upon you like a wave, but no tears formed; you only smiled. You waved your hand towards him to get his attention. He saw your smile and gave a raised brow in return.
"Would you like the other burger?" You asked, your smile widening slightly. His eyes widened and a smile tugged at the corners of his lips. He nodded quickly as he took ahold of it and scarfed it down quickly, amazing you.
Could it really be him? You thought, the dimming flame of hope now relighting. After practically swallowing the burger in one bite, he took a sip of his coffee.
Maybe it really is him... You smiled happily. You were unaware of it, but your hand reached up to his face and cupped his cheek softly. Your thumb wiped any bread crumbs off his face, and it was safe to say, his face was just as soft as you imagined and more.
